According to the World Almanac the world population of Jews increased between 1933 and 1948 from 15,315,000 to 15,753,000.

According to the official three-volume report by the International Committee of the Red Cross (1948, Geneva), 272,000 concentration camp inmates died while in German custody during the war, about half of whom were Jews.

PS Many thousands of liberated inmates died after liberation, from what most of the others died from prior to liberation, i.e., typhus, and that despite the best efforts of military medical corps, equipped with plenty of staff, medication, and medical equipment.
