I practice a lot of LR shooting and would go with the 300 for that reason. If it was going to be mostly a timber hunt for the elk, I would not care one way or the other. That being said, I have killed substantially more elk with a .270. THE CHAIR IS AGAINST THE WALL. The Tikka T3 in .308 Winchester is the Glock 19 of the rifle world.
