ahhhhhhhhh didn't read the whole thread...... but I don't think hundreds of billions would be the savings.
even if we had 100 million retired people, at $1200 each, we just be at 120 B.... unless of course, they keep repeating the 1200 thing

A lot of seniors who have their retirement funds in the stock market have definitely taken a hit.
Personally, I object to people on welfare etc. who will get this. They are no better or worse off than before the virus. Unless they get sick it will not impact them in the least. So why do they get it? Without this kind of stimulus, the entire lotto industry could be shut down. Not to mention Colt-45, Swisher Sweets, and quick-picks.

I can get a get a pack of cheap hot dogs for a $1 at Aldi. Today and there’s 8 in that pack. Pack of buns $1
Eggs at my Aldi were .60cents a dozen last week.
Costco 1.50$ for one dog, you get em to pour some soda in your palms?
$1 hamburgers.
Is that you’re getting ? No drink? Cmon...you and I know old people are going to get an ice cream cone too.
Bottom line, poor people do not need to be eating out. That’s a luxury.

Of course, you can afford the house and kitchen to cook it in.

I agree 100%. Being a radical, staunch conservative, I normally abhor free hand-outs anyway. But in a day where it often pays better to be on welfare.....would prefer the bailout money go to those that actually marry, raise a family, and choose to work. Like so many others, in past generations. If those folks are having a hard time, give mine to them. I can understand helping business's that had to shut down and employees who are, or might be laid off. But giving retirees money is just nuts. My wife and I are both retired so why is Uncle Sam giving us $1,200 each? We haven't worked in years. They could of cut 100's of billions from the package if they would of eliminated giving money to people who are no longer part of the work force. Or am I missing something?

I didn’t pay my home off at age 29 by spending my money eating out at McDonald’s ever phooking day.
Driving back from a week in a condo on the beach now, life is good.
No mighty dog on a cracker for me.

Well, I don't know if I'll get one but if I do, I sure as hell ain't gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. I doubt that $1,200 would raise my total income enough to do me any damage as I've never had enough deductions to go long form anyway. It would be nice if I got a check but if I don't I won't lose any sleep over it. After all, the hood rats need it more that I do. Paul B.

Good job......I bought an 80 acre farm in 1990. Paid it off by 1992, age 32. Bought another 120 acres in 1996......with my own money. Frugal living should be rewarded, but government always finds a way to use class envy....successfully. I didn’t pay my home off at age 29 by spending my money eating out at McDonald’s ever phooking day.

You and the wife didn't pay federal income taxes for 40+ years before retiring? I'm retired and I'll sure take it. I guess I'm not as well off as other retirees like you.

Look at it this way: He Out-Bernied ... Bernie ————> FREE MONEY (not really of course) BUT something that Bernie (and his ilk) can only talk and dream about.
I’m sure there are some votes in the equation.

Yeah, I pay taxes on my Social Security that I already paid taxes on when I earned it years ago. And I pay taxes on investments and locally when I buy things. And I pay property taxes, County assessments........ AGREED X2 all tax payers should get it ,but the best ideal still would be no taxes for 2020 for American residents and any state or federal elected officials no more salary for 2020 the rest of the year.

I agree, you shouldn't get it and neither should people on welfare and those who are still working. But it's all about the votes. If they leave some people out the cries will be heard to the moon. Politicians might have to show some responsibility. My Heavens!

Seems I hit a nerve with some of you. We paid taxes our entire life as well. But I still don't feel like we should be part of the stimulus package. Over and out. Then send your’s back

And usually republican (socialist). This is all about socialists buying votes, and that's why Trump is so intense about getting it passed so he could sign it. He needs those votes. He can't risk hearing about any wavering loyalties among the troops this summer, lest that gets out of hand and too many stay home in November (if there is even an election in November). Hahahaha.. holy cow this poster is delusional. Republican are socialists? He's right. We are all socialists now and have been for quite a while......let's say at least since 2009 but the reality is probably earlier than that. The only questions remaining to vote on is the degree of it and how much totalitarianism we are willing to accept.
