Dan (nad1967) is a fellow campfire member and also is serving our nation in Afghanistan. Dan and his wife and his daughter, Savannah, are currently fighting another fight and they need our prayers and financial support. Please PM me for the paypal address linked to a special account for the benefit of Savannah and/or bank info & address so we can get them the help they need to make this battle easier on them all. Here is Dan's original link which gives more info and contains a link to Dan's wife's CaringBridge blog.
Please......If you want to donate to the family, donate directly instead of going through the CaringBridge website. The paypal address we provide will allow the balances to be directly deposited into Savannah's bank account.
I'm working on getting an address and account number for the bank to make it easier for those that want to mail a check and also easier on Dan and his wife.
Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everythingall she had to live on.

I will donate this knife to the cause. $185 donated and this Sean O'Hare gets shipped to your door. Brand New from maker. I will add he makes very few fillet knives so its a rare one to get from him. Once I get confirmation they have recieved your donation I will ship USPS Flatrate.
MCH has a great idea. This knife is not junk by any means, but if anybody has accumulated too much junk/stuff, we can start a for sale thread with all proceeds going to Savannah. Or we can just post them here. I'll edit the subject.
If you post something for sale for the benefit of Savannah, just post the link to the for sale thread here. I can provide the paypal address or mailing address so the seller can donate the proceeds after funds are received.
Sent you an e-mail Steve. Men and Women of campfire, you have made this ordeal a bit easier to handle for Amy and I. We were choked up tonight when we came back after a tough day and found donation e-mails waiting for us. GOD BLESS YOU!
257heaven informed me it would be easier to just have the buyer pay me then I make the payment to paypal. So if their are any takers on the itmes I listed PM me. I will also make sure I include that the money came from the buyer.
EJJ Just shoot 257heaven a PM and he will send paypal info.
Hope this helps

I now have the bank account info if you want to send funds the old-fashioned way. Please PM me for that information.
And thanks for all the help so far. Dan and his wife may have as long as a 2-1/2 year battle ahead of them, so they will need all the help they can get.
Also - I will post a VXII 3-9x40 matte duplex scope for sale with pics tomorrow with proceeds going to Savannah's fund. It's been sitting in the safe since I bought it and I have other spares that will see use before that one, so it's going on the block. If you have something you know you can live without, post it for sale with a link to the post here.
Donation has been made, I only regret one thing, I can't give LOTS MORE! I know it's not a lot, but collectively we can ALL help and make a difference. Thanks for keeping us free and safe!
Dan and wife, (couldn't find name anywhere, sorry), just remember children don't understand why things happen to them, in their world they just need to know mommy and daddy love them no matter what and "It'll be OK!"
Paypal contribution and best wishes sent to Dan and his family.

Read Amy's first entry in her Caringbridge blog. Link is in original post to this thread. She shares what kind of leave they will be requesting. I've never served, so don't know much about it.
I do not want to distract from this fine thread, but I have a question and this seems like the thread for it.
Does the US military allow for "compassionate leave" -- if ever there was a good reason to let a fellow go home this should be it.
Serious (and respectful) question.
John
I had a Marine in one of my squadrons with a similar thing. Our CO made it lets just say very easy for him to show up for work. Not saying it was the approved method but I think most good CO's make command decissions when needed.
I will also donate two Brand New in packaging MagPull 30 round FDE PMags. $60 donation to the cause will get these to your door via USPS flatrate.
PM me for payment and shipping to simplify things.
I still have the two FDE MagPul Pmags I will lower the price, I priced them high just trying to get the most for the cause. So lets drop it to $50 for the pair including shipping which I will pay for. So the whole $50 will go to the cause.
We continue to be blessed by the members of this forum reaching out to us with prayer, praise, advice, and all of the donations. Christ has really shown his love through many different ways. But, I have to say that Amy and I are nothing but shocked how many people that WE DON'T KNOW devote prayer and give us financial support.
To answer a few of your questions, and if you have more let me know. I check in as often as I can without being "the dad' that stares at his computer with a sick daughter and pregnant wife.
In regards to the leave, I was released from theater to be with my family and placed on emergency leave status. That means that the gov paid to get me to where the emergency was, and will pay to get me back to where I need to go, and in this case, I will go back to Germany. Unfortunetly, my emergency leave expires (at least what was left of my leave balance) before Amy is due to have our baby (which btw is a boy, named Cameron). This could work out to be a good thing if we are released from Germany to come back to the states and hopefully get a job close to family to support the new baby and us with Savannah. This is called the exceptional family member program, and they try to match you up to where you would get the best care and support. So please pray that something in Oregon is available and they match us with an assignment out here. But hey, the lord is lord and I have no idea what his plans our, so we will continue to put our trust in him.
New member Verne has asked me to link to his post for 40 S&W brass with proceeds going to Savannah. He wants to sell 1000 pcs for $45 shipped. Here's the link:
Dan, that rifle donation is all set. Call Eric in Central Point and your buddy can pick it up. Good luck
Let's hear more about this.
URSUS148 has offered a rifle to sell/auction to raise additional funds. The location of the rifle is a long drive for me but someone that lives fairly close to me makes the drive about once every two weeks and has offered to pick the firearm for me and bring it back for me to list.

This is absolutely unbelievable what you guys are doing for this family. Not sure that I will ever cease to be amazed by everyone's generosity. I am proud to be involved with such a fantastic group of guys and gals.
I can say without hesitation I love you guys and Steve, thank you my brother to be such a blessing to this family. The group of people here have lifted a burden from a family in a fierce struggle. Thank you people of campfire.
Good to hear from you, Dan. I told you early on to get ready to be overwhelmed with campfire love, but I'm becoming overwhelmed myself with everything that's going on. Just got another PM from a member that will list some partition bullets to benefit Savannah. It's pretty much a snowball rolling downhill now.
Lots of donations so far from you guys' garage sales. And still several items listed. I understand another Leupold scope will be listed as well as another rifle (in addition to the one donated to Dan). Keep it up, guys.
I can't keep up with it any more. Things are moving way too fast for me now. And it's pretty well running itself now anyway. You guys are great and I'm hoping we can keep it up for awhile longer.
PM me if I can help. We may have another big item coming up and I'll reference it here if it comes about.
Biden's most truthful quote ever came during his first press conference, 03/25/21. Drum roll please...... "I don't know, to be clear." and THAT is one promise he's kept!!!
Dan and Steve, I put up a link marked URGENT NEWS on my web page for people to donate directly to the established fund. I also referenced 24 Hour Campfire and what is going on here. Perhaps it will help. Best Wishes!
Pres kicked in $50.00 extra bucks for the Minox scope that he purchased from me (for the benefit of Savannah), which will be added to "the fund".

Seems to be a trend. Great people here. And I'll never say anything bad about new members. Seems a ton of new members have been involved in all of this fundraising.

PM Dan for an address to mail a cash donation and also send a gift pack to savanna I'll see what I have to donate for sale.
Damn, I'll just pull my head outta my azz! I never thought of sending Savannah a care package!
What a great Idea!!
I have been working on a care package. I am checking with Dan to see what Savannah needs and what her likes are. If you want to help with the cost, let me know by PM and I'll let you know what I find out and approximate cost. I'll post pics of the care package and hopefully we can get some pics of Savannah when she gets it. Savannah doesn't care about the money. So we'll try to provide something that she'll like. I'm thinking BIG!
I'll make sure she knows it's from her campfire buddies.
I'll list my Nikon Monarch X tactical 4-16x50 scope that is like new if somone wants to Send $500.00 to my paypal account (gift option) and send $200-$300.00 to 257 heaven towards the care package for Savannah...Just so you know, this scope retails for $1,400.00.

Here's Dan's email update. Hopefully, he won't mind me sharing it with the forums. Please remember how difficult this is for all of them. Prayers mean more to them than anything right now. Sometimes we get caught up in raising money and forget why we're doing it. Let this be a reminder. It's hard on Dan and Amy and especially Savannah. Pray for them. The content of Dan's email follows:
Hi Steve,
Yes we have been busy and things have been pretty tough the past couple of days and tomorrow is not going to be fun.
Savannah has had a lot of trouble walking since Saturday and has fallen down several times. Her bones are really weak right now and I have not seen her run the entire time she has been here. What has been very hard emotionally for all of us, but especially for Amy, is her constant hunger from the steroids. It literally is all Savannah can talk about and she just cries and cries if she doesnt have something to eat. She shows no interest in her cousins, which were the highlight of her visits and can only be caught talking about the next thing she is going to eat. The hunger part is normal but I think her infatuation is getting a bit carried away even for me. Poor Amy has just been stressed out about her little lately and it just tears her up when Savannah squats to pick something up and cant stand without help. She wakes up screaming in the middle of the night and all she wants to do is eat and it doesnt matter what Momma does unless it is food. Her chubby cheeks are the initial reminder now of the leukemia, and her hair has started coming out more and more in the shower.
Speaking of shower, Amy had her baby shower for our baby boy Cameron who will be born in late April early May. One of our cousins told her baby girl (4 years old) that Savannah will soon lose her hair and this girl proceeded to go around telling everyone that and was asking Amy when Savannahs hair was going to fall out. That was a rough spot for Amy too everyone knew what had been on Amys mind every second of every day and I was hoping she could get a few hour reprieve so she could really enjoy thinking about having a new baby boy and then a comment like that serves as a frying pan to the face. Lord Lord.
Tuesdays are the tough chemo days and Savannah has anxiety Im sure youve read from the caringbridge site. She is what I would call an extreme case right now. Shell get better as time goes on but they literally have to give her an amnesia type medicine to help her forget/make her groggy otherwise the screaming and stress are ridiculous. So we are up here tonight in Portland for another early morning appt that will I assume only end with tears from all three of us again, but its the motion of the ocean this month. Savannah is having her port put in on the April 1st and I will be going into the hole for my leave days in order to stay a week after the surgery to help Amy and Savannah and then return to Germany to wait and get the house ready to out process. Not the best time of course with our little kiddo coming soon. I suppose the only highlight of that is that Amy and I were already expecting me to be out of country for the birth. But that is not really any big consolation.
The donations continue to flow in as well as prayers and kind regards. I believe about 125 people have donated and we are right around 7000 dollars, and I just got your donation as I was typing this message (WOW!). I am meeting a man tomorrow to pick up 1k rds of 5.56 I put up for sale at the hospital. I am thankful for all your help Steve in pushing this on the campfire. We are covered in prayer and showered with contributions. We are amazed at how many people want to help. Amy and I do have a problem, folks like yourself want to send care packages which we would love but we are stuffed with stuffed animals. And what kills Amy right now is that she doesnt play with any of that like she used to. Some Christian kid books would be great, Christian kiddo music, she likes Pixar movies, we need pee pads (bed mats) because the meds make her a bit incontinent at night. Other than that, you have really taken great care of us. I have sold almost all of my stuff so that is a relief. One guy on the snipershide wanted to pay for me to keep some of my scopes, but that just felt wrong to me. I feel as if I am going to be accepting gifts from other people I need to have made several sacrifices to be at the point to receive support. I write a message back
We continue to pray everyday for the lord to comfort Savannah and us so we can take care of the his baby girl. I apologize if my consistency in updates is less than stellar were all a bit scatter brained right now. I write back to each paypal payment and Amy is writing to all of our letters and donations in the mail. If we have had payments sent direct to Selco we may not have the opportunity to respond to those people so we want to let them know that we are appreciative of their donation.
Wow. Please everybody needs to think about what you're doing with your short life here on earth. Everybody needs to think about and remember what's important and what's not really important in the grand scheme of things. My life is changing because of what's happened since last Wednesday or Thursday. Perspectives and priorities change with what all has happened from hearing about Dan's family's struggles to the generosity we've all witnessed from our members. I've got a 10-yr old son and a 12-yr old daughter, both healthy, and I will thank God for that more often now, if nothing else.
Would someone please PM me an address? cant do the paypal deal, but can drop a check in the mail today.
Thanks, Gunner
Same story, send address to me. Philip
This comes straight off of the CaringBridge site:

Have been working like crazy the past few weeks and just saw this. My heart is hurting for Savannah and her awesome parents. I pray Savannah will be healed and our family will keep her in our prayers. Paypal on the way. Thanks, Steve, and prayers Dan for you and your family. I went to Springfield High and am sure we have some common friends.

Steve, I to have reflected on my life and how much I have to be greatful for. My kids are grown but have 2 grandkids which are healthy and I am thankful for that. Thanks to all that have gave and those that have sent well wishes and prayers. But for the grace of God go I. Thanks for taking the lead in getting Dan's story out to the campfire members and for their response. Del
I am an Air Force captain currently serving in Afghanistan. I will purchase a new US flag, fly it over my compound, and mail it to a member for a $50 donation to the fund. I estimate that the flag and postage will cost me around $25. I will donate up to 8 flags if there is sufficient interest.

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a chemo day for Savannah. We did get some special recognition from Amy and that makes me think we're doing something right even though I feel helpless. Please continue to keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. Here is the content of her blog:
I'm hungry! Written 20 hours ago by Amy McIntosh
We made it through another Tuesday, and while it wasn't pleasant, it somehow felt easier. Savannah would probably disagree, as she was her usual "anti clinic" self. Can't say I blame her. We started things off with more numbing cream in which Savannah kept screaming, "Owie! Owie!", numbing cream doesn't hurt, at all. We then had vitals taken with much the same response, again no pain. Doctor came for a visit and needed to speak with Dan and I about treatment, blood counts, meds, etc and sadly none of us use sign language, and or speak a foreign language well enough. Savannah has radar ears. A few of my favorite comments (said with a not so quiet voice) during our chat, "Did you say medicine?!?!" "Don't look at me!!" "Blood?! No!!!" "Don't talk about me!!". I mention these not to make you feel badly for her, but because at this point Dan and I find humor in these moments. Our girl has now been on steroids for 3 weeks and as I've said before, they are intense. Her face and belly have largely expanded, she literally cannot think about anything other than food, she has developed numerous nervous ticks, her muscles are very affected and cause her to stumble and need help up stairs etc, and last but not least, causes even higher anxiety. So in saying that we find a very small bit of humor in her anxiety dont think us cruel, it somehow helps us get through it and we know that this too shall pass, and is largely steroid related. It's such a mental game with her and at some point we hope she gets to where she feels safe with her surroundings, knowing that we are all there to help her get better. To continue with the appointment update, the IV and chemo went without any real issues and a huge plus, her meds are working and all her counts look great. PTL! As we were leaving she was literally singing, "We are going home!", over and over and with a smile on her face. That is by far the best part of the day. Thankfully, she slept all the way back to Eugene, but the moment she wakes up on these drug induced chemo days she spends the rest of the day in a total funk. And by funk I mean inconsolably crying, yelling and screaming at us, and wanting nothing but to eat eat eat. Lord give us strength! Those are the moments that God's gift of patience comes in handy, and usually does, but boy is it hard! Have I mentioned that I SO appreciate all the thoughts and prayers, especially on these days? Because I do! Dan and I both. I love getting texts and messages from family and friends letting me know they are thinking of us and praying for our girl. Bless you all! She is covered and we feel it, so thank you, thank you, thank you. We received our future appointment dates for April and it looks like its going to be a doozy, a normal regiment for her type of Leukemia but still a hard pill to swallow. She has surgery to place the port, get a spinal tap, and bone marrow biopsy all on Monday, then it's back every week for more chemo, this time each treatment being put into her spine. Overwhelming for us newbies, but we know that it is all for her good and that God will get us through it. Amen! I want to end with another GINORMOUS thank you to all our friends at 24 Campfire, Snipers Hide, and SIG forums. You have gone above and beyond helping our family, people you don't even know, yet feel led to help in any way you can. Your generosity is humbling. Special thanks to Steve B. at Campfire for all your hard work fundraising for our sweet girl. And for those of you that we haven't thanked directly, please know how much we appreciate you and all the love you have shown Savannah. God bless you all!
Brings total so far for merchandise SOLD to $5,062. I may have left out some small items and we're not done yet!!
ETA: After seeing Dan's post that follows:
Great to hear a good report. You've probably seen that tonight has been a very good night for fundraising. I'll admit that I took a break, but we're definitely back to full steam ahead. My son asked me today why I'm always on my phone. And now he understands the reason after I talked to him about it. Amy's CaringBridge blog today gave me a second wind. And your report makes me want to go even more. We're not done yet.
I don't have anything to say tonight that I have not already said before, but I again want to thank you all for comforting this family. You all have served as arms of the Lord to cover us in prayer, and things are happening in this family! The obvious is the donations which we are are seeing everyday, which I have come to a conclusion that should I ever need some serious work done in this world, I'm making sure I've got Steve on my side before I make a move (thanks again bud).
So, something that Amy did not mentionon caringbridge yesterday, because she does not like getting her hopes up, was that Savannah's checkup went very well yesterday, as in awesome! So much so that they do not need us to come up to Portland on Thursday. Yes! YES! So today we were able to take a rest (despite waking up twice (Savannah can't hold her #2s at night anymore)) and were able to stay at home and Amy's awesome Mom came over and cleaned house and watched Savannah while Amy and I caught a breather. It was funny that while we were out trying to forget it all for a minute, we kept looking at pictures of Savannah before during and after her diagnosis. She's out little girl and we can't imagine how another little one is going to fit in right now, but we are gladly going to welcome God's little boy, which I don't think we've mentioned his name. We combined middle names from Amy's side and mine came up with Cameron Jacob. From the way he's been doing triple axels this week, he's going to be as much of a challenge as Savannah's been.
Thanks fire-friends
BTW, Amy and especially me are a little uncreative inregards to what type of a care package would be good for Savannah. I will say no more stuffed animals. We've lined the floor with them now. Right now Amy and I are more along the lines of some children's books and movies. She loves blowing bubbles, and loves cowgirl stuff. We're okay on stickers and art related things.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. --Winston Churchill
We were able to go to the Oregon Coast aquarium yesterday and via candlelighters (a group for kids with ccer) we were able to get free admission. Savannah is still on her steroids and her attitude shows it. The medicine makes her very irritable and has caused excessive weight gain. Amy and I are driving up tonight to stay at the McDonald house where tomorrow morning Savannah will have a port installed in her chest where the docs can administer her meds easily due to the frequency it is needed.
All being said, we are blessed to be able to say that through this difficult time the Lord has blessed us with friendship from people we never would have met, generosity from people we don't even know, and love and prayers from believers and non-believers. I would like to share on the day that is the most important to me that Christ has risen and in doing so brought us salvation. I know that whatever trials we have are only temporary and that the Lord will see us through them all. The past month has changed this family forever and I am so blessed to have had the members of this forum help us with prayer and donations.
bgbuck153 came through on this ammo sale so I just sent Dan a PP for $180. Dan, Savannah and their family are in our hearts so I hope this helps. Thanks for the opportunity to pitch in....

My family's prayers are with your family in this trying time. Thank you for your service. My youger brother is ex airforce and served in the beginning of this mess. I don't have much to offer but I do have a coffee can full of once fired 223 (556) brass. Somebody needs this so make a donation and pay the man and I'll cover shipping. God bless.
If you don't have anything nice to say, you must be talking about Hilary Clinton.
When it's time to bury your guns it's time to dig em up.
I counted that brass and there are right at 350 in the can. Somebody wants this stuff so come on and make a donation. If nobody buys this here I'll throw it on gunbroker and then donate the cash if you guys think thats a better plan. I don't have a clue what it's worth so give me some input guys. Thanks.

I would just list it in the classifieds and make sure you include in the subject that proceeds will go to Savannah.
Ahem. If anybody cares........and everybody should....... We have something HUGE fixin' to happen here for Savannah. Stay tuned because I'm telling you.......it's a big deal.
Told you! Wade With Cross Hair Consulting (ursus148) has contributed a 7-day African Safari with 100% of the proceeds going to Savannah's fund. Thanks, Wade. Minimum bid is $1,800.
257, dvdgeorge, and all the wonderful folks here. I can't get this off my mind. God Bless you all for your giving hearts, and special prayers for Savannah and her family continue from W TX. Savannah and her family are the obvious concerns, but I hope your generosity is rewarded and comes back around 10fold to each one of you.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
I wanted to let you all know that Savannah is starting to get her personality back after being off of steroids for ONE WEEK today! She is still "puffy" and gained quite a bit of weight from the steroids but that will go down in time. We are SO thankful that she is wanting to play and no longer begs for food (chips and salsa) all of the time. She has difficulty walking for the time being (partially because she went from the equivalent of adding 20% of her body weight in 4 weeks and of course the medicine makes her bones hurt). We thank the campfire family for standing up for the McIntoshs' and donating an amazing amount. From items sold and donations we have already topped $10k. And though your donations are appreciated we want all to know that what we believe heels our daughter is prayer. Our faith in Christ is cemented that he will heal his daughter. We have felt the impact of your prayer. It makes a difference. Please continue to pray for Savannah, Amy and I. Things are about to get very busy when in less than three weeks we have another little one to care for.
I of course want to do what I can to fundraise for my family. I don't want anyone out there to think that I rely solely on the generosity of others to simply provide for my family. I have recently sold some scopes, ammo, rifles, and pistols. I have a donation from wade and couple of nick nacks that I am trying to fundraise here: https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth..._Savannah_Fund_300_WSM_Burri#Post7626334
please help me move these to do my part to provide.
Dan I just sent $100 through Paypal for a brick of 22lr That I sold (bluecat) for Savannah. Please make sure it went through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless!
I apologize for the absence. After all the classified sales as well as donations from family and other forums, we have surpassed $14,000! Thank you all for continued prayers for Savannah and the family. We getting excited for baby Cameron who will be born in about two weeks. Savannah's doctors also have her on a program that will give her a short break while Cameron is born. We are more than likely having Amy induced to give us the most time to rest with another kiddo in the house. We are so excited that Savannah is doing well. Jesus answers prayers and we are so excited that more and more people continue to learn about Savannah and pray for her health. She is doing about as well as can be expected (medically). Emotionally is bit different but we'll take that! Praise the Lord for her improved condition... and I should find out about my assignment next week. Just wanted to keep you guys up to date.

It has been a long time since I provided an update but I wanted to keep you all informed. I again want to express how thankful we are for your prayers and for your contributions. This forum family has been very supportive to our now family of 4.
After Savannah was diagnosed we worked the entire time to arrange a reassignment to be close to our families in Eugene. We received orders after Cameron was born to McChord AFB (just outside of Tacoma). It was not what we had wanted, but it was still a great option. So I had to travel back to Germany, get things arranged to move to McChord and leave between Savannah's brief downtown in treatments. To say that she is "used" to going to the hospital by now doesn't not encapsulate the orchestra of events that occur every time we get ready to go. Nevertheless, I wrapped up shop in Germany and came back to Eugene for a week before heading up to McChord. We wanted to live off base to be close to the hospital in University Place, anybody from around here? We transferred from Doernbecher's in Portland to Mary Bridge in Tacoma. Two very different hospitals but we get all the care we need at Mary Bridge. We had debated going to Seattle Children's but that is essentially 2 hours of extra driving from what now is only 20 minutes! I can't tell you how excited we are about that. We were having to stop off the interstate to apply Savannah's numbing cream for her port access. Now we just slap it on 20 minutes before we leave. So we are currently in a TERRIBLE 2 bedroom apartment awaiting for our house to close the first week of August. Why do I do these things to our family? We found a great house that backs up to a park and we are looking forward to a big Birthday party at the end of August for Savannah there.
I don't want to talk about the treatment so much here as just to send you all an update. Savannah is in the midst of phase II, and is in the middle of "delayed intensification", which in short means that no one is enjoying themselves. This entire time we've only briefly mentioned Cameron, who has been the perfect baby that this family needed. He is just over two months and this kiddo is sleeping through the night! I mean 8-10hrs! We are so blessed!
Drop me a line guys any time you want. I am proud to be a member of such a caring site!
Thanks again for the update and your service, Dan, and the very best of luck to you and your family.
