Provided you are not beat to hell to start with, the under 50 crowd has not even scratched the surface on the motivation it takes to stay in overall good shape.

Accept that it's going to hurt, accept that it's going to never feel like when you were younger. Lift with common sense. Jog slower, get a Concept rower, Nordic track, stepper and use them even when you don't feel up to it. Kettle bells are great, but watch the back. All are money spent that will return a bigger investment than a new rifle.

Out the door for an hours slow jog on trails and walking some hills. A marathon runner changed the shoes I wear and how I run. I'm going to buy her a gift in appreciation for showing me a new path, that I didn't know was there.
