It should be a shorter rifle than the American - no magazine. And in some states may be considered a primitive weapon, usable in extra seasons. Last, being a single shot, you have more flexibility as to bullets and OAL.
Whether or not that's worth a #1 price tag, YMMV
edit, well I see the American has a 16" barrel, so no the #1 won't be shorter with a 20"
It's still a matter of the above if it will be usable to some folks.
