z1r,

Agreed 100% = That's WHY I suggested that IF you don't know what to look for, that you GET EXPERT HELP.
(IF you find a mess after purchase, you didn't do a good job of "shopping the back aisles".)

Over the last 3 decades, I've probably bought 4-5 dozen "cheap rifles" to reformat for myself or friends. - IF I decided to get rid of them, rather than keep them for myself or gift them to family/friends, they got resold & generally for a profit.
(Most people will be stunned at what you can find IF you are reasonably knowledgeable & NOT in a rush to "just buy something". = Lack of patience & "lack of attention to detail" is a great way to either spend too much money and/or "get taken".)

Note: One of my "pieces of cheap junque" (Junque is that "fancy French junk".) was the source of the best German-made 3X scope that I own & it came off a "100 buck rifle", that I found at a garage sale in PA about 1975.
(The "optics guy" at Waffen Bennewitz in K-town, BRD said that it was worth about 2,000DM.)

yours, tex
