Never had a lunch pale without smoked brook trout in it..Awesome chit hickory smoked..To live for..
Out camping as teenagers We would toss gutted out brookies covered in fine ground cornmeal into cast iron skilket with butter Good eating size one 9 to 14 inches let the little legal over 6 inch ones go . Dont wanna overfish spots. Fish for a day or 2 move up or down stream a.ways.
How did you like those fish, Rene?
They sound delish to me.
Excellent. Crispy skin. Firm flesh Got a good taste.
Went back up to maine from 98 to 01 on recruiting duty
State of maine fisheries geniuses Released a hybrid called Splake Cross between brook trout and fresh water salmon.
Fugging Idiots.
Splake wiped out brook trout fry.
Fugged up a buncha water systems with that mutant. Lots of fisherman pissed off big time.
Some good idea fairy schit at the state level.
I caught one in titcomb stream out in T32MD Thought it was a huge brookie
Reeled it in after about 5 or 6 mins
Big old blunt head Under bite jaw Fugged up brookie marking spots Leading edge of fins black
Like WTF..
Brought it in too the county rd store Was kinda embarrassing asking what the fugg this fish was. I left maine in late 83. They laid it all out to me what it was and was wanting to know how far up titcomb brook I caught it. Almost up to the head waters in the horseback mountain range. Basically almost to shallow gravel spots where fry live.
Fugging splake I ate it out of a sense of curiousity. But it had the oily texture and taste of fresh water salmon more than a flaky light sweet taste of brook trout.
Unreal. Sorry to hear that.
They screwed a lot of white bass fishing in central Texas stocking those pos greasy stripers that eat everything else.
I'd think you'd enjoy some cornmeal fried smallmouth.
Nice pic of Slums great buck.
He has to be the champion tomatoe growing man.
Did you ever consider smoking a few Turkey breasts for the farmers who let you hunt arrowheads. I wonder if you might pick up some deer hunting permission
