In 2018 I bought four VX-3i 3.5-10x40s for under $1300 for all 4. Other than their tracking isn't the best, they're great. Once set they stay there. It's a bit of a pain to sight in, but I don't twist knobs in the field or mess with anything else except adjust parallax with the objective or the side focus knob. Sorry but I have too many rifles to spend an extra $1000 for optics when so far Leupold has done everything I need. Why kick the sleeping dog?
