A couple of regular .270s have spun that bullet at about 2700 just fine for me. The somewhat stubby profile is there to make it work in 1-10" barrels. Still has a decent BC. Quite accurate too. Deadly killer. Look carefully at any you shoot at deer-sized critters, because it's the last time you'll see them (you aren't likely to catch them for your collection). My favorite .277 slug.
