The old man lost his hearing wrenching on his beloved C-119's Pratt & Whitney radial engines for 12 years. Rode a desk for DoD 34 years after that. Deaf as a fence post. VA said FU. He ended up spending nearly $20K on different sets of hearing aids the last 10-15 years of his life. Not a lot of love for the VA here.
