The Marick’s disease doomsday scenario. They took a fairly benign virus that appeared in commercial broiler chickens and in order to increase profits began vaccinating them all before delivery to growers. The vaccines were leaky and allowed the virus to infect and propagate in the vaccinated chickens without doing them much harm. Because of this, the virus endlessly mutated and became more lethal so that now any unvaccinated bird in contact with commercial chickens will be infected and killed by the now 100% fatal Marick’s disease.
Imagine that. Every person on earth must be vaccinated to survive. Everyone must receive regular boosters throughout their lives to remain alive. Failure to receive a booster, means death. Imagine the control of the population in that scenario.
And it’s not imaginary. We’ve created exactly such a world for chickens. Will they do it for us?
