That's what my friend is doing - just had his engine rebuilt for the second time. He has over 3 million miles on the truck and sez he can rebuilt/maintain it as long as he wants to in order to prevent getting one with all the electronic/emissions crap on it... He only runs three states - and CA is NOT one of 'em..
