Find yourself a 760 or 7600 Brinky and have JES run his magical rifler thru it. Fast and quick handling and a couple shots on tap should you not have the first touchdown just right.
Several guys around here back in the day had Leroy wiesner transform 740/742/7400 into whelen’s, know a couple Ol gristles thst still run em. 👍
I found an older 760 in 270 Winchester for 250 bucks. I was going to have it rebored, but since I have a 280 and 35 Whelen already in 7600's, I just had the 270 chopped to 20" and run 150 Partitions through it. I kinda figured nothing I could have the 760 rebored to would work better than the Whelen would, so it stayed a 270 and works damn good.
And yup, that little M7 358 you've got would be handy as well. It would've been tough to build it any better.
