When we lived at M.C.A.S. El Toro in 1969, my parents went in to the base commissary to do some shopping. My brother and I couldn't go in because we were too young and needed to be 12 to go in. That was cool because the commissary was next to the runway where the jets started their takeoff roll. There were 2 Phantoms getting ready to takeoff. Across the runway, just above the treeline was what looked like a corrugated steel trashcan spinning on its axis. Never saw anything like it before or since.
