I started out shooting 100gr Hornady SP in my 25-06 and they killed like lighting. But the inside were a disastor area! Didn't like that so went to 117gr Hornady and cleaned up the disaster area. Both bullet's did kill the 100 gr faster. Deer hit with the 117gr bullet just walked off a bit and laid down dead. The 100gr bullet deer normally got erked off their feet. My impression with plastic tip bullets is that the tip has to go somewhere. Use 75gr V-max in my 243 and those bullet's exploded on a 1 1/2" foam backer shooting targets! Hate to see what would happen to a deer with the plastic tips. Of course we all have different experiences and if they don't bother you, use them. How one could stay intace, the bullet not open and go through a deer leaving no blood trail I cannot imagine. Only real uses for that plastic tip I think is varmint bullet's like th 75gr V-Max or in monolithic bullet's to insure the tip opens in the first place.
