I'm going out on a limb here and saying 308 mg links are .308 (7.62 NATO) machine gun belt links. We had a guy hunting with us that missed every deer he ever shot at. 'Real nice guy, and a deer's best friend during deer season, 'cuz he was seriously challenged just to hit earth. We strung together about 20 rounds of MG ammo, and painted the ammo box as "Bob's ammo box" and set it up in his treestand. He was so pizzed he didn't talk to us for week! Some guys just got no sense of humor......
