The largest buck registered in a check of five big-buck contests across the region was a 265-pounder (field-dressed) taken by 12-year-old Bill Conrad of Circle Pines, Minn. It was registered at Buck�s Hardware Hank in Grand Marais. In fact, the four largest bucks in those five contests all came from Buck�s. Brian Fairbanks of Grand Portage had the second-largest, a 256-pounder. Third-largest was 250, taken by Ralph Milanoski of Custer, Wis., and fourth-largest was a 245-pounder taken by Jerry Waha of Grand Portage.
This are usually from the 1st weekend (of 3) but the contests run all season.
