I picked that up (Bugger) in Northwest Queensland on the same job. That was a word that was used a lot. I thought I was an accomplished beer drinker. BUT NO, NO WAY! It was amazing what those guys drank and then worked the next day. Of course, the company provided it for free. The food was free too, but I didn't see guys eating a lot. The best place to live in the world is where there is great hunting, low population and few gun laws. South Dakota is great. I think Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and maybe a couple other mountainous states where there’s low population and good hunting might be as good or better. He had invested his life saving in expensive English doubles. One year the government of Australia required all guns to be registered. The next year the government required him to turn in his rifles and they paid him $700 Australian for his $20,000 to $30,000+ rifles. They destroyed the guns. It basically bankrupted him and he had to work many more years of his life. Years he thought that he’d live in retirement. It is not the man on the street in Australia that did it to him. It was the government. No one saw it coming, except the ones who had it planned. We shouldn’t point the finger at the ones who were hurt, it may happen to us.
I found the people in Australia to be good people, hard working people, people that I’d be happy to fight along side in war. They proved themselves in WWII. And when war comes to the Pacific again I know they will be on the side of the USA.

If they had to be registered, and couldn't easily be passed on to relatives or anyone without the relevant licences or who would maintain those licences, then that could easily have a large effect on the most expensive firearms. I also trust Bugger's credibility.

At the time of the buyback the prices were very good.
As with any investment however the long term returns are always going to come with some level of risk. As a bad example, here taxi licenses were quite expensive and there were some people that invested in them as part of their retirement strategy, then along came Uber, and the like, and the government devalued the taxi licenses significantly.
Isn't any firearm, or anything for that matter, that is passed down through a family, licensing required or not, going to be subject to market value?
