If you had it, you'd know. I've not had it here, but I had on my phone yesterday. Trying to evaluate my range's new electronic target array and it kept reverting to that damn Amazon spinning roulette wheel.
This site almost never gives me a problem since I took the common advice a couple of years ago and downloaded Firefox and Adblocker Plus. To surf this site I only use Firefox.
Sometimes if I just fire up my laptop and open this site as quickly as the computer will let me I seem to catch the site before Adblocker has finished starting. then I get all the ads and popups out the yin yang. In that case I jsut close Firefox and open it again and this site behaves.
This site is tied in with an ad aggressive aggregators and is probably a decent money generator for Rick. Can’t blame him paying for this site ain’t cheap and we’re all basically freeloaders.
Remember if you aren’t paying for the product you are the product.

I know right
If we don't let viruses invade our phones, the baby won't have new shoes
I'm just gonna go over to the phone place tommorow Have one of them girls unf uck this phone and install some fugging app that I ain't gotta fu ck with that runs on itself and take care of it.
I hope.......
Some of the names of the "winners" on the wheel of day ate pretty stupid. Almost like it's some 3rd world country site trying to make up American names.
If the gift card was for 7.62x 39 ammo it would be cool
Nope, only by phone. And some days, it is so bad you can't even stay on a page long enough to log out! Not worth even trying to participate when that happens. Constant redirects from Amazon, "YOU'VE WON!, " and a couple of others, but those two are the worst.
Should not need to download special program for only one site I use on the entire internet. This is the ONLY place I get these redirects.
No, you shouldn't have to do that. It's been going on forever here and it's obviously not going to change, we've been complaining about it forever and it hasn't yet.
It is what it is and I finally solved the problem by using google chrome as a browser with adblock plus and pop up blocker for Chrome. It's working on my computer and I don't get any ads, popups, or redirects here.
I agree that you shouldn't have to do that to clean up this mess and I don't like having anything to do with Google, but to make this site work that's what it takes for me. I wish it wasn't so but this site is infested with malware/spyware/adware etc. and it doesn't appear that it's ever going to change.
Everyone seems to be missing the question in my post.
Why does this site seem to be so predisposed to this happening? I am no tech guy at all. And I don't understand the process of running a site like this, but I look at this empirically and I see these problems nowhere else but here???

Because the owner makes money off the advertisements and isn't going to shut down his income stream. We complain, it gets ignored, and life goes on.

Sorry, but that's a touch cynical.
Re-directs are the bane of online advertising, and multimillions of dollars are spent within the industry yearly to combat it. I absolutely hate them, and I get rid of them whenever I can.
That's the thing, it's not always something within our control. Sometimes it's cellular networks (so only customers of ATT or Sprint, etc. are targeted). Sometimes it's individual wifi networks. Sometimes it's regional. Sometimes it's intrusions into major advertising networks including Google, AOL, and the like. Sometimes it's only mobile users, or Safari, or Firefox.
What you will notice is that rarely is it anything but contained. If it was sitewide (and rarely it has been), I can track it down and nuke it. But you'll notice that normally it is a handful of people, and that often one subset of users have it and other subsets do not.
I am on today on my laptop, PC, iPhone, a borrowed Mac, on various wifi networks, home and out and about, hardline, and on cellular. I have had zero redirects today.
Later tonight I will get my hands on some Android devices and try again.
If it helps, I will only get the redirects when on my android phone. Galaxy 8 or 9 I think. It comes in swarms. Once you start getting them, it bad, and hits hard like you were personally targeted. There is no purpose in sticking around when that happens. I have trouble even staying on site long enough to try to log out. Other days, like today, its calm. I don't recall even one redirect today. When it is bad, there seems to be no way to even alert you to the problem, Ric. By tablet and wifi, I have no issues. But I use that method a lot less than by phone. I do not come here by PC at all.
No problems with my Galaxy tablet or phone but I am using Ghostery for a browser (blocks advertising trackers), the only issue I have with Ghostery is that it sometimes blocks linked pictures that are posted.

Believe me, we are anything BUT pro-redirects.
See, there's the an answer that makes sense. More info than I have had about how some of these things affect some and not others.
But, what I don't understand is why this site is so prone to it compared to pretty much every other site I visit?
I'm getting them from another phone co that spells like this VER*ZON. For quite a while I was getting them from Ama*on and Wal*art.
No place else, just here and at times they are unstoppable and make the site impossible to visit. If Rick makes money on that kind of shiit I think it sucks......
It’s been terrible for me recently. Verizon now but was amazon for a long time. It’s just here so it’s this website. It comes and goes here. I’m on an iPhone. I’m not going to load a third party ad block just to visit here. When it gets bad I just stop visiting. Check back now and then to see if it’s usable.
Just part of everyday life.......... Like commercials on TV. They gotta sell some space to advertisers so I don't have to pay for this forum. If I were in the market for a new Chevy truck I might be inclined to click on that, (but I'm not in the market right now).
For a few days I was being redirected constantly. I'll bet I won at least 100 Walmart gift cards at $1000 bucks a pop.
I tried to share a link to a good topic with some friends and they were all bombarded with the Walmart gift card traffic and were redirected. It is pretty poor for the site image.
For about the past 2 weeks I have not been able to log on to the Fire via my Windows 10 laptop. No problem logging on through my Android phone, Windows 7 PC, or my iPad. I have tried all the fixes I can think of, re-booting, deleting cookies, checking settings, etc. As you can see below, a different browser makes no difference; none of the three on my laptop will get through. As usual, this problem only relates to the Fire; I have not had the issue on any other site.
I would welcome any suggestions or advice on resolving this irritation.
Thanks FC. I had checked the McAfee and didn't find anything. So I shut it down completely, re-booted and the problem is still there. The only adblock I use is built into Opera, which I use for the Fire access, so that wouldn't affect the other 2 browsers. If the router was the cause wouldn't that also affect my other devices?
Yes on the router affecting all devices. I was just throwing things out there to check.
Yup to system restore. If that doesnt work Id uninstall mcaffee and do a clean reboot. See if you can access. Then reinstall mcaffe. Make sure you back everything up before doing any restore and reboot.

This error is a little hard to track down. It happens when a secure site (https//) can't establish a secure connection with your computer. Check to see if your computer has the right time and date. Reset the router?
Why just you, and just on the fire is mysterious. (I'm taking it that your laptop can connect to other secure sites.)
Talk to your ISP, they could have inadvertently put a safety filter on the campfire.
A good start would be to Goggle the error message of your favorite browser and run through the suggestions.
You can do something similar with other browsers - reset to the default settings. In Firefox it's click on the 3 bar icon, click on "Help" and then on "Troubleshooting Information" and finally on "Refresh Firefox". Chrome can do it too but I don't use Chrome enough to know just where the magic button is.
Make sure that Ad Block Plus is enabled on this site. There is a box that one checks. I had found that mine wasn't, so I was getting those ads constantly and of course they block the content.
I don't mind ads along the side, but those Chavy ones are extremely annoying.
No kidding.. I won't touch that crap with a ten-foot pole.. Still running W-7 here w/o any issues. W-8 is on the tablet - and that causes no issues here either..
Recap - This is not an ISP or router issue, it only affects 1 device out of 8 we have at home. It affects all 3 browsers on this laptop which leads me to believe it is a Windows 10 issue. It also doesn't seem to affect other Campfire users, so it's isolated to this laptop. I suspected my McAffe virus program may be the cause so I deleted it (I'm not a fan of McAffe anyway). It made no difference. I'm now running Avast. I turned off the Windows Defender firewall. It didn't make a difference. Here is something I found out of frustration; if I quickly click on the reload icon of the error page about 10 times as fast as possible, the Fire will load after a short pause. It seems like the something is delaying the security handshake between the browsers and the Fire causing a timeout. I didn't do a system restore and do not intend to just to access this one site. Not worth the trouble.
persiandog - Tried your suggestions and it didn't make a difference. SSL 3.0 off or on = no difference; other settings as advised.
nighthawk - Campfire was not found on any blocked or restricted lists and wasn't added to any by me. I followed your suggestion on resetting defaults on Firefox. After doing so the first attempt to access the Fire worked; subsequent attempts failed with the same error codes as before.
OrangeOakie - Problem affects all 3 browsers, not just Edge, so it's not an Edge issue.
Unfortunatly it is still there at the bottom of my screen. Chevy Siverado The most dependable longest-lasting full-size pickups on the road.* (That fall to pieces when you take them off road)

Weird. I first noticed it was missing yesterday. Never really understood how much it bugged me until it was gone.
I'm sick of %^(*^(^(*Chevy ads popping up and moving the screen so I end up hitting something I don't want to hit. How do I get rid of these pop up ads. Please layman terms, I'm not computer literate. I Wouldn't buy a Chevy if they were given free hand shammies with them. I'm sure there is a tutorial some where.
I had two days without Adblock Plus and was mighty happy to get it back on my Mac! I can't see how this or a number of other sites are even usable without it!!!
They should be a sponsor. I’ve had it for years. I’m old, not computer or phone savvy. I installed it in a couple of minutes. I even figured out how to post pictures. I haven’t figured out how to post Friday music yet.
One of these days I'm going to turn off my Ad Blocker just so that I can see this Chevy ad that everyone keeps talking about.
Had to put my laptop in the shop, recently - "The Warden" was kind enough to lend me hers, for a bit. EVERY damn window - that ad popped up - just enhanced my desire to never own a GM product, again - and I'm a GM man! (Last truck has "problems" , and the one before.)
Why? it's that damn stinking chevy add. I can't click my mouse without getting that damn add!
You ain't getting the congratulations Samsung Amazon spinning wheel of doom prize give away stuff???? Wtf????? Chevy ad ain't chyt compared to that crap.....
And if you like the Fire and want it to continue, suspend your ad blocker, let the page load once completely then activate the blocker, reload and carry on.

Ya, I too have sworn off GM products forever on account of that PITA ad. I get it on Google Chrome on my iPhone, not at all on Firefox on that same phone.

You think GM randomly drops that ad on unsuspecting websites?
I think your frustration may be pointed in the wrong direction.

Really annoying. Only from this site. This is just one example. They take you from whatever Fire page you're on and tie up your browser and you can't reverse out of them. You have to actually close that browser session.

Well, in the past there have been discussions that chit like this may be different on different carriers or regions. FIIK. Good luck. But updating the browser when available is not a bad idea.

Running opera mobile on android. No issues here. Android chrome has issues occasionally. Learn how to clean cache partition and STAY OFF THE PORN SITES! 🤣
Only here. Android Chrome. If it was an issue on MY end, I would think that it would show up on at least one of the 50+ other websites I visit each day.
Happens to me on Android Chrome only. Rarely if ever on WiFi. Which leads me to believe that it comes in via the wireless provider. Open another tab, go to the same page you were and close the tab with the adware malware junk. Ad blockers on the home computers Chrome no troubles ever from such pesky stuff.
Wait, hold the phone! CHROME Android is FUBAR for the 'Fire. You guys ever try Firefox and uBlock Origin? Guys say it works. I done tried it and it does. It does. It does. It does.
I have run Windows, Linux, and Android so far. Have a Chrome OS machine coming in a few days. NONE of them to date have ads or popups. Not even on this site or Drudge.
I use uBlock Origin on all of them. But nobody wants to listen to me, so...GFY.
Try this. After you get one of these ads that take over the screen, close out the website. Then open it up on a new page. Now, before it has s chance to take over again, quickly go to a post with an embedded YouTube video and click it to watch it. Now back to the campfire and proceed as normal.
I’ve found that this sequence somehow breaks the pattern.
What's REALLY good about the Pack this year is that their horsechit play will finally allow the firing of McStupid... GB needs a coach with balls and a will to win. And they need to replace 2-3 on the O-line, and then find a few DBs that can actually defend against the pass..
Three years, best guess, to get things going again..
Wait, are you saying uBlock Origin make everything ok on your phone? Why yes it does. Coll maybe I will take like a minute to get it and be done with the bullchit. Ok. You go girl.
I have an iPhone and have had some of the same probs. Mostly amazon taking over. Just this site. Finally I just minimized it in safari and left it there never to be opened again. No probs since.

I've tried that. Ended up having twenty or more minimized version of it, and still with each time I opened up the Campfire in a new screen, before long it would happen again. It doesn't seem to care how many duplicates of it you maintain in a minimized state.
This solution I posted above seems to work, though. Somehow, it throws it off track.

I do not. This is in Safari. Ever since I let the blasted invaders have their own little minimized page I haven't had any probs.
You started this thread with bitching, then you're given the solution several times over - and you bitch about that!
Sonny, listen up or shut up.
Rocky, Always liked you.
You're just not seeing the big picture. You said it yourself. You don't even carry a phone. As Flave said, anymore a phone is a computer. There are more reasons than the Fire for me to run Chrome that I am not going to divulge here, nor waste my time explaining. Briefly, I have software for my business that runs on Chrome. I was a senior level IT guy for many years over a 3 decade career, so I kinda know a little of what I'm talking about.
Chrome is the Google browser that has a user base of 2 billion. Ublock Origin is simply a plugin app for several browsers.
And finally, I'm not blaming Rick. I'm actually working with him through a 3rd party to help him resolve the problem. It is also WAY in his best interest to do so.
Please don't become an ass like somebody else here is trying so desperately to be. It seems like one troll can control so many people's minds on this forum anymore.

Maybe ricbin is doing some bill nye the science guy stuff on here to fix something?

And again.
Yep, could hardly make use of my iPhone for the Fire today. Now back at my MacBook. No problems on it, ever.
Rick, I went by my local T-mobile office today to see what light they could shed on the problem. Here are some takebacks from that conversation. Bear in mind, I carry no malice for you. This is simply a technical problem in need of an answer. I spent a 30 year career as an IT problem solver. As you are well aware and practicing, you just keep pecking away until you eliminate the root cause. I was not a web guy. I was a database guy, so please bear with me if I get bogged down in something off topic.
1. They believe it may be coming in as a biproduct of your ads. (In my time, we used to have hackers running up and down the ports on our servers, looking for a soft spot. We had specific ports dedicated to specific aspects of the business, and of course, many many that were not pre-assigned). Quick question: For example, have you checked port 1080 to see if anything or what is coming through there? Do you use a host file? You could also check to see if that's been modified. 2. They have seen this before on both iPhones and Androids. So, it is equal opportunty privacy invasion. It apparently started with iPhones and mutated over to Droids. 3. I went through my phone's settings and disabled pop-ups and re-directs from all sites other than one of my banking apps. Yours was ome of tjem im that list. 4. Depending on how you resolve ip addresses, if you use DNS and where your DNS origimates from, and if the re-directs are static or floating ip, you may be able to kill them using their url and ip. That is another thing I am doing on my phone. On my Galaxy S6, if presented with a lower case "i" circled to the left of the url, you can click on the "i" and block that web address.
As I learn or find out more from the Droid side, I will share that with you.
Rick, no issues in the last hour or two, but it comes and goes. When it hits, this site is useless by android smart phone (galaxy). No issues by windows 10 tablet. (Yet) I'll post what pops up here, and time stamps will show when.
By the way, while we have your attention, any chance of a sarcasm emoji? (Might cut down on the twisted panties)

Still no problem here running the chit that works..

That's why other guys willing to listen and learn have moved on, zero ads, zero redirects, and zero pop ups. It's easy. Good luck!

If you're going to put somebody on ignore, only to toggle, quote, and reply to their post, don't put them on ignore. It'll save you some steps. I know these things as I've spent decades streamlining work processes.
Rick- Firefox with uBlock Origin is working mahvelously here.
Not an option for everyone. This is a company issued cell. You don't alter it. It's set the way it needs to be for work functions, work orders, pages, texts, and emails. Screw up one setting, and it's lost productivity. I will NOT be downloading chit to work around a problem that ain't mine. If it can not be safe for my cell as is, it will limit or eliminate my participation.

Still good here, zero ads, redirects, or pop-ups. Note: I don't have pop-ups allowed cause that'd be counter to my desire to not have pop-ups! Firefox and uBlock Origin for the WIN. Chrome for the WHINE. LOL

So put a feather in your ass and take a picture, you stupid phugk.
If you're going to put somebody on ignore, only to toggle, quote, and reply to their post, don't put them on ignore. It'll save you some steps. I know these things as I've spent decades streamlining work processes.
Rick- Firefox with uBlock Origin is working mahvelously here.
It seems like one troll can control so many people's minds on this forum anymore.
l_d,
Honest question for you here.
I saw a post ( Kellory's ?) about having a company issued device and not being able to change crap on it. Is that similar to your situation? If not, is there a reason you can't install/download firefox and the adblocker to your phone and just use that while browsing the 24hrcampfire stuff? Continue using your Chrome browser for all the reasons you need to, just don't go to the 'fire sight on it?
The reason I ask, and I'm very tech challenged when it comes to phones, I had to use Internet Explorer on my laptop for a few month just for one site I use on occasion as something they had was not able to work on firefox. No issues other than I had to open IE to go to their site a couple of times a month maybe. Easy enough to do, just clicked another icon on my task bar. Chrome is on this laptop too, so I guess I have at least three browsers to choose from.
I don't do the 'fire on my phone, just a few other sites I use, mostly here at the house on the WiFi, occasionally while out and about. So I don't know if I can use two browsers on a phone.
As in the case I mentioned above, I had to take another tack until the website I had issues with fixed their end of things so it was compatible with firefox. Seems from everything Rick is trying this might take awhile and using another browser for the 'fire in the meantime might help with the frustration everyone is having?
Again, I know little about the phone/internet thing, so please allow my non-nerd questions.
Kellory,
Not trying to be a smart assss or something, but do you have a private phone? I've worked for organizations that didn't allow company devices to be used for outside stuff and that was our option. Or, as in your case, when they didn't allow changes to the interface and we were allowed some private use, if a site was "dangerous" or clogged up resources with junk, we had to use our own devices.
Nice to see you have a company phone and they allow you to use the internet for private stuff.

Geno
Geno, you can have another browser on your phone. For instance, on my phone there is Samsung Internet.
I'm trying to help Rick get the problem fixed. Period. Yes, there are ways to work around it, but that doesn't help Rick or the multitude of people experiencing the problem.
Using some app plug-in off the the internet is just satisfying self-interest and not helping solve the big picture problem. But, I digress.
That is why I moved to rokslide.com ....I get the disabling pop ups often. I probably looked like a flake on my last classifieds transaction because I couldn't stay on long enough to get a message sent.
I am not sure if you can help or suggest help in getting rid of these pop ups that freeze all activity. I only getvthem on my iphone when browsing the campfire. It doesnt happen on any other sites. Any suggestions? My guess is that I am not the only one, but just couldnt find the topic anywhere else. Thanks and sorry if this has already been andwered elsewhere.

This problem comes and goes here but in the last couple of days it’s almost impossible to visit the campfire. I’m having to manually stop the site loading to view it at all. I’m sure I’m not the only one having the issues and it’s only here.

No problems here.. Never had an issue to date.. But then, I don't have any of them "smart" phones either..
Never have had a problem here of any type while accessing from 2 different computers. Clean install of Win 10, Chrome browser, Norton Security. No other 3rd party add on stuff. Rarely ever see an add even, just blank spaces between every few responses. I have never tried to access from my smart phone, but I run norton on it too.

I get that also. The way to exit it is to hold down on the back arrow. You will see a list of return addresses, about 100+ keep you in this popup, but if you go to the last few you can return to your original page.

Sorry for the slow response, just saw this. No private phone. Company supplies this one with unlimited data. It is always on for emergency service calls at all hours of the night and day. I just had a 12 hr service call in Michigan. 2hrs on site, and 10 driving. So it is active for company use, but I have unlimited use as well, but not the permission to alter company equipment. If there were to be a break in at our shop, all company phones would show the camera feeds. My service work orders, emails, background texts , all come through my phone. Research on new or obsolete equipment is done online through my phone. There are more than 1200 business contacts, push button key box codes, and site rules recorded there. We will not be altering it.

Called Samsung this morning. I run a Galaxy S6 Android phone. They confirmed explicitly that the redirect ads are caused by and originating from www.24hourcampfire.com.
For other security reasons, I recently installed a VPN on my phone. I have had no redirect ads since. So, it appears the malware is using our phones' IP addresses to carry out the attacks.
Hopefully, this info will help the 24hcf people working on the problem.
Exactly. All the companies that pay for ads that do nothing but annoy people, don’t they realize that all they’re doing is putting a bad taste in the mouth of people who might otherwise have been customers?

For all you know, that chevy ad might be paid for by Ford.

I agree Kellory...as technologically challenged as I am, it was a simple fix and now I never get pop-ups. This is a free site and a great one to learn and be entertained so to call the owner names is not cool in my book. I for one, appreciate him maintaining this site.
Never have any. On PC using Chrome with Ad Block Plus or on Android phone or tablet using Firefox with uBlock Origin add-on. Been discussed dozens upon dozens of times that these are workable solutions. There's a few others reportedly. Some smart dudes figured out how to work this and I heard it from them. Not a single ad, redirect or pop-up, EVER since going with these recommendations. It also helps to run your updates, clear cache and cookies, maybe.
Thanks Boomer, I’ll try to find a blocker for iPhone.
Let me know if you find one, I have not been able to. Ad block plus works great on my computer. Rest assured I will never buy a Chevy truck. Most of my attempts to close that ad on my iPhone or iPad result in it opening anyway. Please don’t twist off and say this is a free site and I need to deal with the pop ups. There’s no shortage of adds at the top and left of the page I can click on if I choose to.

You are treating the symptom, not the cause, and not a viable choice for all of us. PC and tablet work fine here, but not phones. Unfortunately, some of us can not alter our phones. (Me for one) due to it being company issued and not to be messed with. I have discussed it with the office, and the answer was "don't even think about it.". The problem is here, not with my phone.

Ok. I have no argument with the problem being here. No doubt about it. I understand your situation with the company phone. Bummer for you. But, I have, as have likely thousands of others, taken the advice of what works and simply continue to enjoy the site without problems. Dirtman says I am selfish for doing so? For phucqk sake that's the dumbest damned thing I have ever read here. You referenced downloading Firefox and/or uBlock Origin as downloading "chit from the internet". They are actually excellent free applications, not chit at all. Google's own browser seems to have more problems on their own platform. Why? I could care less, not a techy, just a user. If it fails to work and something else does, I'll go there. Cheers.
Ctrmass, don't know what works on Apple but folks have been having more issues than Android lately. There's been dozens of threads dealing with such issues and iPhone folks have shared their solutions. Good luck.

Last two days, if I’m connected to WiFi on my iPhone I can view the Fire for about 37 seconds before some BS pop up takes over. Only site it happens on. Anybody have a fix
I don't get anything on my windows laptop. No pop-ups on the android phone. I get them about every time on the IPad. Is there a specific cure for that platform?
Several threads regarding this problem. PC's running most popular browsers can use adblockers, and they are very effective, at both killing ads and stopping malware hidden in ads. Mobile browsers are problematic. The crap shows up very often in you're using Android Chrome. Never used any Apple products so not seen what goes on there.

I’ve had 9 pop ups like this just while trying to post this message here. I actually had to write this and copy/paste to here!!! Anybody know of a solution?

6 various redirects in less than a minute. Walmart, Costco, takes over and have to close the page to release the phone. Very bad right now. Logging out, I'm done trying for now.
I'm getting them too on Android Chrome, on this website only. It was intermittent. But, it's getting much, much worse. Now, I can't scroll the forums at all without getting the page below. Is there a way of blocking this page?:
It shows up on my I phone. very annoying. redirects me right off. I would like to find one of these hackers that write these viruses and put their head in a vice and happily start slowly tightening it.

Does anyone know if there is a more appropriate place to post this question so that someone might answer as to a possible reason for this problem or even better yet, a solution?
Every few months it seems that when I login here, I get a “Congratulations! You’ve been chosen to win a free gift” popup and then it takes me to some BS spam site and I need to close it down, login again...its been doing it now for the last 5 days or so. Is there anyway to prevent it? Are others having the same issue?
With Android phone and tablet using the Firefox browser with the add on uBlock Origin is a proven solution.... PC, Chrome browser and Adblock Plus works.
Both these zero ads, zero redirects, and zero pop-ups....
Been lots of Apple folks having issues and have not seen any current solutions. Good luck.

I’m usually on my Ipad and would get those every so often, then they’d go away for a while after everyone complained to Rickbin. It was really bad a couple of weeks ago with that exact redirect so I installed Avast (free) on my Ipad and haven’t aeen it since.
This every time ....Like the vice idea but i would place fingers in place of head...pain will last longer before passing out!!!

I get it on my IPhone and Tablet. “ Dear Brazosnet customer, you have been chosen....... “.
I just figure God is telling me to get away from the internet for awhile.
What do I neees to do to keep out the pop ups? Get the wal mart one that locks up my computer. Only on this website. I’ve downloaded chrome but it did not help. Thanks.
Is anybody else getting these? Whenever I browse this website, I get these spam pop ups that won’t go away. They claim I am some kind of winner for a bogus gift card of some type.... can anything be done on this websites end to stop this from happening?

Been pretty standard here at the Fire for a few years now.
Lately making this sight about unusable, never seen one this bad
Same here. iPhone Safari is essentially nonfunctional at the Fire due to this pop up ad that takes over the screen instantly as soon as you arrive here and not permitting anyone to simply x it out. Seems criminal. If not, it sure should be, and someone should serve serious time for it.
I have Adblock also, Send me 500.00. I’ll show you how to sign up!
Tried to sign up a couple of years ago, but it asked me to agree to give them access to all the information on my iPhone. At that point I shut down the sign up process.
Its aggravating. This is the only forum or site I have trouble with on my phone. I got the ad block browser app. I do t like it but it's better than being directed to a new page every 2 min.

For your phone try an adblocker app called “Crystal” . I installed it well over a year ago specifically because of the pop ups on this site and it’s been the perfect solution
For the last few days it has been the worst ever. Both on my iPad or iPhone. I erased browser history. I even deleted chrome and reloaded it on both. I also reset my modem. It has been working tonight knock on wood. Love the site but this is the only site this ever happens.
Anyone have a clue as to how to block ads on a Samsung phone using my Chrome browser? I don't want to use Adblocker's, Samsung's, or Crystal's browsers. I just want Adblock to work the same on my phone as it does on my desktop.
That is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Only a full blown imbecile would call the manufacturer of their phone over redirect infected ads.
You stupid phugk. Who would you call? They have more experience with their software, hardware, and firmware than anybody else in the world, you phugking moron.
Now go eat a bag of shyt, you phugking dumbass. Careful, don't trip stepping out of the trailer.
I just learned how to block a website in my settings. Every time it comes up now, I copy the website and include it in my “never allow” category, under restrictions. Hope this works.

I’m using a smart phone and have Ad-Blocker No pop ups here...ever since I did it
When I tried to install that a couple of years ago, it reached a point in the process where it asked me to agree to allow them access to the data on my phone. That was the end of the installation process, i.e., I don't have it on my smart phone.

Have you checked the "permissions" for the browser that is currently installed on your phone? Odds are the permissions aren't any different than your current browser.
I'm working with a third-party, and totally called their HQ in Seoul, along with my IT contacts Trevon and Chad at the T-mobile booth. They all agreed I should go ahead and check the box: BLOCK POPUPS, so I did that, but, the problem seems to be on this site... So I like PM'd Rick. It's for the greater good that I trudge forward.... Chrome is the best because it's Google's. You are selfish if you use apps that work. I Toggle, because it starts with I T.

Anyone who thinks that they are being stealthy on their cell phone probably believes in alternate universes. If your cell phone is on, you're being tracked from several sources...
I can't imagine not having some type of ad blocker in lieu of "protecting" myself from intrusions from trackers. It ain't happening in the real world. If you have a phone, without a doubt you're being tracked..
Only on this site, only on my iphone or ipad and only when I'm logged in. I can browse the site all day with no problems if I don't log in. As soon as I log in it starts, non-stop.
My old trick of adding the nuisance website address to the blocked sender list doesn’t seem to slow these down now. Using ipa pro with safari and IOS 12.1.0. Any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips guys but I just browsed for 15 minutes and nary a pop up. Maybe the Administrators killed them or they just got tired . I will def deploy the ol ad blocker if they rear their ugly heads again!! Thanks again.
I had the same issue with safari on am iphone. The amazon gift card for $1000 would cause safari to freeze....couldnt go back, couldnt delete, just had to restart. So I downloaded chrome....And still get pop ups, but i can go back and then cancel....and keep browsing...from the same place without restarting. Can i run ad blocker on an iphone?

Is that what those popups look like? Thanks for showing me.
Here it is. It pops up as soon as you get to the Fire, and prevents you from using the Fire. There's no declining it. Only thing to do is to close out and start over, hoping they don't immediately take over the screen again, which is rare, as it usually just pops up right away again.

Apparently you three either can't read, or have no retention abilities, or you would already know (at least a dozen times over) that option is not available.

Just not available to you on your work phone. That sucks - for you. Others lament when the fix on multiple platforms has been offered. Waiting for the boss to fix it? Good luck with that kellory. Carry on.

I shall. I get unlimited phone and data, at no cost to me. As long as it is ready for job related use at all times. It's a great deal for me, but no settings or programming changes without prior approval, and the boss will not approve changes due to THIS SITE ONLY having pop up issues. I appreciate RicBin's efforts to correct the problem, but it is here. Blocker treats the symptoms not the cause. Not an option.
What is also strange is that it only occurs for me in 4g LTE mode. And 24 seems to at times to automatically want to go into 4G LTE mode when I get on.
I go to to other websites and my phone system stays on the home wifi with no problems. Just 24hr gets this thing. No other places I am on have Callum Davey,s testamonial about winning a gift card. Hahahahaaa!!!
It's not the phones... Its the website and the advertising that it is piggy backing on . Someone else also mentioned that it occurs in 4g LTE mode only on here and no other places. Any time I get on 24 and I see it wants to switch to 4g LTE I go into connections and refresh my home wifi connection And have no problems.
Sometimes I go 4 or 5 days and have no problem. Then get hit outta the blue cause i ain't paying attention 24 switched to 4g LTE mode on me. Then reset wifi.
Ain't the phones It's the web site And only 24 hr No other sites have the problem.
At least it ain't the spinning wheel of doom anymore. Seem to be all Samsung connected stuff though.

No problems with my Samsung phone or tablet viewing over 4G, but I'm not using the chrome browser that came with them either. Posted from my phone.
The solution is still simple. Don't use your work phone to view this site.
An even simpler solution is GFY. Stop assuming other folks are stupid. If it becomes too much of a problem, I switch to my tablet which is unaffected, however spellcheck is more problematic.
Kellory, I don't assume people are stupid. But I didn't come here to cry about a problem that an eight-year-old could solve, either. I wish you luck with all your difficulties.
Got this crap on my iPhone last week. Downloaded the Firefox focus app, problem solved. Don't even have the stupid Chevy ads.

Your condescension comes through loud and clear, and I'm getting tired of repeating myself for those who either fail to read what I write, or fail to process what the words mean. I'm getting tired of arguments over simple shït like a favorite color or beans in chili. And I'm getting real tired of the "what are you stupid?" Mentality. If this issue can not be fixed correctly, the irritation factors may well outweigh the benefits of knowledge found here.

I bet the Indian who spoke to you on the phone at “Samsung” had a tremendous laugh with the 500 others packed in the call center with him. “I’ve definitively backtraced the problem to 24hourcampfire.com sir”!

Nah. He was a lot smarter and courteous than you, you fugkin turd.
Really fugkin stupid little ckunt trolls like you couldn't even carry a technical conversation. And, it must really suck to be you, having nothing better to do with your life than trolling men on an intermet bulletin board.
Jealousy is a very powerful human emotion. Youu're obviously consumed with it, and just not happy with your lot in life.
My best revenge on little ckunts like you is simply waking up every morning being me.
Bulletin board! Damm dirt you are a funny old coot, always good for a laugh! Then you go off calling names like a punk. Gawd what next? You going to call the switchboard at Goggle and ask them to patch you through to the 411?

Dumbass trailer troll phugks like you are a modern product. Used BBS's for years before turds like you even knew what they were.

Keep on ranting you funny old coot. Everyone is a kghunt, dumphucqk, turd, troll, phucqk... Good gawd you're like the gift that keeps giving!

Nah. You're the endless gift, douchebag. I was just going along minding my own business.
Like i said, little ckunts like you are just a byproduct of the times. No common courtesy. No respect. Proving your roots and stupidity daily. Sad, really.
So put a feather in your ass and take a picture, you stupid phugk.
Respect for you? Naw.... The way you've been ranting at guys here with the cussing, name calling and especially the perv-ass gay cock-talk pretty clearly solidifies that. Weird stuff.

You stupid little cock'sucker troll. I have only responded to you and one other little puzzy ckunt internet troll like you. You started the whole thing, you lying stupid phugk. FOAD, you litle worm cock'sucker pos internet troll.
I will forever continue to call you out, ckunt, as long as you keep this schit up. Go phugk yourself.
Do you even have any idea what a little puzzy fool you look like?

Like that. What a wackjob. Just use Firefox and uBlock Origin and quit whining.

You're just a little internet troll like every other little internet troll that came before you, whose never understood common group courtesy.
I've been on the internet since it was live text, before it was even graphical. There weren't any douchebags like you back then. It grieves me to see it. But, that's society these days. Keyboard warriors throwing shots from behind the anonymity.
The takeovers are really bad this morning on my IPad. I still don’t know what redirecting me to another site is supposed to accomplish....it’s for damn sure I ain’t buying anything there.

Ain't that the truth. I think the only motivation that's possible is just to be malicious.
I can’t even go two minutes on this site with my iPhone anymore without an ad popping up. Is there one that works? I’ve tried ad blocker and the plus or pro version.
I was having the same problem with the $1,000 pop up when using Safari. Members on the Campfire recommended Ad Block from the Apple store. I downloaded the free version, but I got 30 more seconds before ads popped up again. Frustrated, I went back to the App store and paid the $1.99 for Ad Blocker Plus. The trick is to download the app and it takes about 10 seconds to download. Then on the right side of your iPhone hold down the button on the right until it asks if you want to shut down your phone. Swipe to shut down. Let your phone shut down, hold down the right button on the iPhone and restart it. WOW!!! No more $1,000 pop up offers. It seems like the $1,000 offer is for use who use Safari. Another solution is to download Firefox and use it for accessing Classifieds on the Campfire.
I visit a lot of various sites, but this one is in fact the one I enjoy the most and spend the most time. I get more bugs and redirects saying I won some sort of gift card and it shuts me down and I have to close out the window on my mobile device and reopen it. I had the same problem with android when I used an android devices before I switched to apple several months ago. I personally think this site has way way too many ads, I think the ads are causing the problems. I know its nice to make money and I am grateful for the site but come on man!! this needs to be fixed. I enjoy waking up every morning without even getting out of bed and grabbing my ipad and surfing the latest threads right here. again I am thankful to come here but this needs to be fixed and its been a problem for a long time.
oh and PS, I also had tons of trouble here before I switched to chrome with ad blocker on my desktop, AGAIN TOO DAMN MANY ADS!!!!
No ads, pop-ups or redirects. For every platform folks have told what works. We can't fix it but sure as hell can address the symptoms.
Known to work on Android tablet and phone: Firefox Browser with uBlock Origin add-on. Known to work on PC running Win 7 64. Chrome Browser with AdblockPlus.
I was surfing the ’fire and got an ad on my iphone in Feb 2015. I installed adblocker then and have not seen another ad on this site since. Not a single one.
iPhone 8S and iPad Air with ad block and always get the horse chit redirects to prizes and such. Sometimes like right now I am using Firefox and it’s not giving me trouble but sometimes Firefox does it too. It’s been like this for years, sometimes it’s unusable and sometimes I can go through several threads before it happens. Pretty frustrating for sure as this is the only forum that this happens to me on.

I know how you feel. It was the same way for me until i put ad blocker on my iphone, problem solved. I don’t know why it isn’t working for you.

Have you turned/enabled Adblock Plus in your iPhone settings?
so if adblocker fixed the problems on my PC, and you guys claim adblocker fixes it on mobile devices, here is a thought, how about shiitttt can the ads?
so if adblocker fixed the problems on my PC, and you guys claim adblocker fixes it on mobile devices, here is a thought, how about shiitttt can the ads?
That is irrelevant because it is not in our control. Your use of the software that works, the exact software that works, is the only thing in your control. Too me, in the time it has taken since your first post you could have tried multiple solutions that have been presented. Have you tried the $1.99 paid version of the Apple adblocker? Have you tried the Dolphin browser?

How many websites do you own/run?
Just curious how you buy bandwidth for all of them.

Conversely, would you pay, and how much would you pay, to be here?
why not remove all ads from the site and bring them back one at a time till we see which ones cause the problems?
Why not pull your head out of your ass instead of asking someone to jump through hoops to take car of something 100% in your control? You do know that ads geneate revenue for the person who owns the site, right?
I visit the site on a 6 year old MacBook Air, and have no problems. I did get Adblock when the annoying Chevrolet advertisements started popping up though, and no problems since then.

I see this problem too on my iPhone and iPad, but not on my MacBook when using comcast as the ISP for my LAN. Turn WiFi off on the iPhone and the problem goes away. So the "You won..." pop up bug/virus looks to be comcast ISP related. It does render this forum unusable.
Don't mind the ads too much, the site has to pay for itself. BUT the persistent bottom of page pop-up (Chevy Silverado) as I type, has GOT TO GO!

Look, dumba$$, nobody like ads, but they are what pay for free Internet sites.
If you can't tolerate them, only look at stuff you pay for yourself.
Ok, I pad I phone user here. My ad blocker in my settings is enabled, still have had issues. Is ad block plus a app? Dolphin browser, is it a app that will work on Apple products. If so, Im to use this instead of safari? Im not concerned about your ads, you guys need and deserve to get paid for this forum, I’m just looking for a fix for me.
Yesterday the farking Amazon takeover pop-up took over this site. I went to the App Store (iPhone) and downloaded adblock, the free one. Went to Settings, turned adblock on............viola! No more adds! Try it, it’s not as easy as bitching on here, but it works! Woooooow, white man’s magic!
The problem here is not only AD’s on the IPAD / Iphone....
It is that the Ad’s are forcing a redirection to another site when you try to close them - AKA the ad’s are not like any other ad on a internet site.... you can close them and continue.
Here if you close an AD you are no longer at 24hourcampfire, it sends you else where so you don’t get to use the Fire at all.
That isn’t normal...
To fix it I believe we’d have to Identify which advertisers are doing it - so one needs to help the admin by recording the screen and giving them screen shots, meaning; A) it doesn’t happen all the time, it only happens when the fire plays certain ad’s to apple devices B) the AD is OK... provided it can be closed without kicking you off the fire site (unfortunately it does that)
I’m pretty sure it’s a violation of Googles add policy as well - who wants to lower your site view count because AD’s stealing a session... which is what they are doing
I have both I pad and iPhone and have been having lots of issues with both. This is the only site I have issues with.
I use my IPad and I have ad blocker plus. Usually the Rewards Demon will tear his ugly head a few times then go away. Yesterday as soon as Ibopened a thread I was redirected. Tried my IPhone and got the same result.
Oddly..... I could read and answer a PM yesterday. Just couldn’t open a thread.

I hope santa brings you something to smile about this year as you're never happy unless you're beotching about something. How about you change something about you this year instead of demanding the world conform to you.

I was going to ask if cumminscowboy is a female. Does enough bitching to be one. There also seems to be a disconnect from reality.

You can lead a horse to water............
I use an Ubuntu based laptop and an Ipad for this site, no adblock on Ipad, no problems. Hmmmmm

If they did that, you'd only be able to beotch about FFP scopes.
If your simple mind can grasp it, the ads pay for the site's existence.
So, I guess all those claims of Apple products being worth the higher price because they don't suffer these problems are Internet myth? That's kind of funny.
Android and Adblocker+ is problem free here. Chrome with Adblocker on the PC - same. And I ain't no geek.
I have used laptops, android and now iphone, I have never had any issues and I really have no idea about all this stuff, never put any blockers or what have you on my phone, so I must be lucky.
That one's out of our hands. Until the IT experts get it fixed us mere users have the option to work around it or suffer. Only a fool would choose to suffer given the choice. Helping guys get their software working for the fix is simply decency. They're simple fixes that seem to not be simple for all to deploy. My take is to help out.... The wonky chit used to frustrate the hell out of me and the solution has been a gift. Merry Christmas
My - iphone works laptop works desktop works ipad works
All apple, no ad blocker. no bugs, no redirect.
I just ignore that Chevy ad at the bottom of every screen.
The Chevy ad is an annoyance only. The redirect is the real problem making the site unusable with mobile devices. No problems with my MakBook using this site, though.

Have you tried the fixes others say works for them? We can't fix Rick but can treat the symptoms. How about give it a try? You can always resort back to what you have been doing.
It's actually not random. It only occurs to those not running the best software. May the force be with you. Or, continue to be plagued.... I imagine Rick is working on it right now and it'll be better in a few minutes.... Or not.
On Android try Firefox browser with the add on uBlock Origin. Zero ads, pop-ups or redirects.... Need help, just speak up. We're here to help brothers.
Stupid question I know but for those using adblock and saying it doesn't work, are you using the adblock browser to log onto the site or did you just download the app and continue to use your normal browser?
Was having the same issues...downloaded free Adblocker for iphone and activated it per their instructions....not a single ad or redirect since. Took about 2 minutes and I was back up and running. Try it. It works. Still using Safari.
I downloaded an adblocker on the iphone. It seemed to help for about 5 minutes. Then right back to it. Had to log in on the laptop just to be able to post this.

There's some tips here that may help. You might have to change a setting ir something. Good luck.

As a soon as I open this site, i click on the three dots in the upper right hand end of the top line and then I request desk top site. So far it has worked. Bfly

Cleared my website data and very first time I came back....pop up congratulations bullshit. It's very frustrating. Not sure what I can do about it on my iPhone.
This, I use safari so I had to go into Settings /Safari/Content Blockers and then turn it on. Bingo then it worked. No more headaches. Occassionally I have to turn it off if I am filling out a form but it works great.
Go to the app store and download the adblock plus for the safari. I have a iPhone, iPad and MacBook pro and they all run clean of ads and popups with this software.
I downloaded add blocker pro and followed there instructions. So far so good. Both my iPad and phone seem to be working just fine. We shall see if it lasts.

The only ad that hits my tablet is that dang chevy truck ad every single page it has to be x'ed out. But the phone gets hammered.
Tzone I completely understand. Was just sharing what seems to to be working on my devices. This site as much as I enjoy it has some real issues and they need to be addressed.

Thats the problem. You dont understand that you DO have issues with all websites, and why you need an adblocker of some sort. You may not see ads and such, but theres so much happening in the background. Years ago when first adblockers came out I had the same reaction you did. Until one of the hackers showed me how much data was being used in the background. At the time I was on cell plan only. After installing the adblocker I lowered my plan, the background BS was using that much data. Maybe you dont give a schit how much data you use. But you should give a schit how much info of yours these companies are sending back and marketing to others.

Good deal. Can't imagine suffering it without at least taking a few minutes to get set up and try it out. It works and the headache is gone!

Good point. Ablockers are basic tools along with the browser. Take a step to fix what is in your control, enjoy the site without BS, and boldly go where no man has gone before.
Just did a test on the site from my PC. Now I dont see the schit the test pulled up because im running chrome with abp and ghostery, but click on the link. Look at performance review. Check out domains. Itll give you an idea just how phugged up this site is.

As they say, hint:
The fact you ever visited this site means you have a pile of schit on your device.
As much as we enjoy them, websites are not our friends. Websites cost money to set up and operate. Every click is monitored and every bit of data about you is sold. That is how they pay for the site and servers and make a profit. As marketing intensive as this site is, you can bet .gov has their hooks in here as well, mining our data and archiving our comments, whether the owners realize that or not. We all need to protect our sanity and protect our data. Adblockers and more are necessary, if we want to surf the web.
I do believe sites are reaching a point of overwhelming viewers with disruptive ads which will end in decreased revenue. The campfire seems to be at that point.
Regular AdBlock for Chrome on my MacBooks and iMacs. NeverAds on my iPhone. I don't have any issues with the site and don't see any ads. Heck, I don't see the Chevy ad either. Not sure why you are having the issues.
“Yep, however, a man can only control what is in his control.... If you don't want to use the site without issue, you're all set.
The fix only takes a few minutes and a bit of effort. Many thousands think it's worth it.“
MtnBoomer,
That’s not the point. I’ve been a member here for 17 years. This is the only site I’ve ever been on that has this problem. I shouldn’t have to pay to escape ads and pop-ups that make it impossible to even read the site. That’s being held hostage in a sense.

And Merry Christmas back at ‘cha!
I appreciate the Merry Christmas but totally disagree what the point is in this situation.
There's plenty of free adblockers. It's silly not to use what works if you wish to use the site without issue. Or, a guy can continue to suffer waiting for Rick to fix it. But, chit's been going on for years as you know. It's a simple fix on the user's end and the only thing we have any control over.
When someone told me that on Android I could use Firefox browser with the add-on uBlock Origin and then IT WORKED 100% I was rather pleased, have not paid a dime and have had zero ads, pop-ups, nor redirects since. NO PROBLEMS for over 2 years.... Several guys made some changes recently and are now problem free. That's the point... Adblocking software is good in many other ways too.
Can the moderators do anything about the horrendous pop up ads on the forum lately.. sometimes I can’t click two pages without getting bombarded with ads. Please.

Have you turned/enabled Adblock Plus in your iPhone settings?
Thanks skeen...
I had previously installed adblock but still experienced the pop-ups. Didn't realize it had to be turned on in settings.
No ads or pop-ups now...
When using a windows based device and you add an ad blocker to Firefox it becomes active automatically. Live and learn
You and me both! We should have a survey to see how many members this affects and then post ways to avoid the ads broken down by device and browser. I can avoid them on my laptop and desktop but I just can't get around them on my Samsung S6 Active using Chrome.
I'm new here but have been on 4-5 other forums for over a decade and this is by far the worst I've experienced. The Chevy add alone is pretty awful when using my phone. When I get the others that redirect me, I have to close out the window so i normally just move on to another site at that point. Fwiw, I've got a 2 week old galaxy S9
All this started out on android devices. It hit me a couple times on my iPhone but thought I had outwitted it. After some time it hit me with a vengeance. Seemed to be just on weekends but hammered me today. Installed Adblock and so far seems good. Carry on.
If I’m using data instead of WiFi on an iPhone or iPad I can’t even click on anything on this site without a redirect . For whatever reason I don’t have any issues if I’m on WiFi.
Old Tim Cook, when he took over as CEO of Apple, told me that If I didn't want to support the LBGQT and Man Made Climate Change movements, I should not buy Apple devices or stocks. I have done my best to follow his advice on that, because I support neither.

Weird. Renegade50 was kinda having similar issues.... Have you tried to install and activate an adblocker? Hopefully you can get it going.
I'm skeptical that the Gunwriters are the answer. You can hope someone does something on the boss's end or do what's in your control and get the right software to work around it. Several guys got their stuff working in the past couple of days to much JOY. Many, likely thousands suffer zero problems here.... Only takes a few minutes and a bit of effort. No need to explain how FUBAR it is, or how silly it is to have to do something for problems that are only here, BTDT. If you want to get it working, it's in your hands. With adblockers running you're better off everywhere.
I'm not terribly fond of blocking ads, ads helps pay for the site. But there is an annoyance limit and the ad racket passed that long ago. So I use an ad blocker, currently AdBlocker Ultimate, on my Windows 7 desktop. The latest AdBlocker has always worked over the years. From the discussions on the Hunter's Campfire forum blocking ads on various phones is more difficult but doable but I wouldn't know. see there.
this is in response to the last thread I started where I said this site is unusable on apple devices. I got many people who claimed I was imagining [bleep]. people saying oh it never happens to me. this is despite the fact this particular website causes me more issues than any other site I visit. I have had issues on my desktop, my android device. also on my apple devices. I am starting to feel like this site has more virus and bug issues than a porn site. FIX IT. start by disabling all ads on the website. Why is this difficult? simple turn them off they are causing the problem with the redirects, slowly add a few here and there back to identify what is causing the problem. For those who don't believe. watch the damn video.
I felt the same way about this site: here and only here ,, and only on my iPad or iPhone, the site became unusable from the damn “Congratulations Amazon User” pop up scam. This morning I finally took the advice of the smart people here and spent $1.99 on Adblocker. No more problems.

You are damn funny. Unusable my ass. Notice the icon name picture url
Your problem is not caused by "bugs" on this website. You have a virus on your device. You device is probably rife with adware, spamware and viruses.
You will need to remove the viruses from your device before the problem can be resolved. If you do not know how to remove the viruses on your device, then I recommend a full wipe and reset. Reinstall the operating system after backing up your important files.
I would recommend an anti-virus software as well as a popup blocker. Avast! is free and works very well on Apple devices.
Stay away from Chrome.
It is not the site administrator's responsibility to fix your computer/ipad/MacBook Pro or other device.
Only thing I can figure is he’ll stomp his feet and bitch that someone else fix his problem. Granted, this site is the worst for add crap. Download an adblocker, make certain it’s enabled, viola! No Mo adds!
I turned adblock off, and so far no problems. Oh my, did I download schitt on my phone that I didn’t need? The horror! Okay now that’s done it’s time to re-enable adblock. Just cuz
Has anyone disputed that the problem is here? Uhh, nope.
Yes, yes they have. I've been told at least a hundred times, that it's on my phone, it's a carrier issue, it's some outside hacker, it's the man in the moon, but it surely wasn't this site. I must have clicked on something, said yes to some mailing, or stomped on my dick in some other way, but it wasn't the site. I must be wrong.
The problem is here. If you can solve it with AB+ for your access, so be it. But it's not an option for me. It's a company account, and I can't buy it, download it for free, or borrow it from a friend. It's not allowed on this company device, period. It's not a matter of being lazy, broke, stupid, or being programming illiterate. It's been denied access by the owner of this property. It ain't happening. It ain't about being cheap, I have an engineering program on here that cost more than $200.00 when it was loaded, per phone. There's another for automatics that is closer to $800.00 if I get certified for inspections. (It is continuing education in my field). There will be no unauthorized alterations to this phone. If this site is a danger to this working tool, my phone access will Cease.

Then buy your own [bleep] phone and do as you please, rather than being under "the man's" thumb.

I get unlimited data and phone access, in exchange for being accessible 24/7/365. I am emergency service personnel. Kiss my azz.
Does nobody here realize that pop ups are a revenue generation device. For the most part, that's how forums such as these are funded. I too agree they are annoying, hence, the development of pop up blockers such as the one in the post above.
You might try the talk to the webmasters thread....
Serious questions. Have you done anything on your end? Did you clear your cache? Delete your cookies? Reboot? Even contemplate the one minute installation of the adblocker that has been recommended to you many numerous times?
If you do that stuff you will not have the problems. If you don't do that stuff you will have the problems.

why do I need to do anything? I don't have to do anything on any other site I visit. This is a problem unique to this site. further I start to wonder if the site could infect our devices like porn sites do. Its obviously redirecting to scam sites. that can't be good.
I have used Adblock for a few years and it has worked great. This is the first time but I am now getting tons of the spam/pop ups while running Adblock on an iPhone

Those things are suggested, after your device has been effected by the problems. Which it has. That bs stores bs on your device! Since last night, if you have NOT done anything you can not know! You must perform maintenance on your device. You must do maintenance on your device because of the malicious acts of others, not Rick. Once you do that, you will know if the problem persists. If then, and only then, the problem persists, then install an adblocker or continue to have issues. But, if you are unwilling to do anything, please understand that is your issue, no one else's. Do you need help clearing your cache and deleting cookies? I suppose somebody may be willing to help you out with that. Joy has been spread to the max.
AdBlock Pro fixes it on the iPad. But neither this nor private mode prevents it on the iPhone. I gave up accessing 24HCF on my iPhone. It logs me out each time i switch apps and the rewards redirect hits as soon as i log back in.
FWIW they overcome adblocker on my device. Seems to have calmed down some. My tablet is pretty well gone anyway. Been looking at new ones. So I do this with my iPhone anymore. Just the way it’s been for me.

Same here for the I-phone . It’s improved but not gone.
The Morons who installed Ad-Blocker pro probably have not even gone into the app to click on a few buttons to make it active.... What a bunch of idiots..... Surprised some can even breathe on their own...
RicBin. I do appreciate your time and effort to track down and stop the ad attacks. As I told you in this other thread https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/13373158/36 , I would post what I see as I see it ,to aid you in what it is, and when it hits. (It seems to ebb and flow like the tides). At no time would I want you to feel I was bitching at you. I'm doing what little I can to assist. I am, however, getting annoyed with repeating myself endlessly about AB+. (Can't use it). Since this appears to be a broken record, I'm done talking on these threads. (Of which there are many). Good luck.

EVERY site works over your info. Surfing the web without an adblocker is pure stupidity. Whether pc, phone, etc.
It only happens on this site, no others. I have the ad blocker pro, have reset all. No problems with a laptop or desktop, just with I-phone.
I think this is the issue being raised.
Either way or anyway, it only happens on this site but it is much improved as of now. Rick is on it, it’ll get fixed. Much good info and advice given on this thread.
While ads do in fact generate revenue, it is not necessary to have a large ad take up 1/3 of your smart phone screen. It should not be required to use AdBlock to use the site. This site gets carried away with ads and essentially demands you use adblock to have a normal user experience.
Then there are the virus/redirects that I only experience here...
I guess you have never bought a rifle and felt the need to add a scope?
Fuggin clowns here will spend a bunch to "customize" a rifle, but can't/won't/refuse/are too damn stoopit to find the wherewithall to "customize" their browser.

This.
Same explanation. Your device needs maintenance prior to your being able to tell if the fixes work. If you are not using an Adblocker literally dozens of actors are tracking you and they've already put chit on your device! From here and everywhere you go. Everywhere. The redirects are not Rick's doing..... Getting chit to work here is just one benefit of using good software. Adblock plus and Adblock pro are good for your device because they stop bs before it happens. Good god there must be a reason so many people keep fuggin saying it... There must be a reason. There must be a reason. There must be a reason.

What porn sites are you fellers picking up viruses on?

At this point my browser (Safari) is completely locked up. Switching on/off does NOT clear the problem. Neither does terminating the Safari app and restarting.
The same problem exists using AT&T LTE for data instead of WiFi. Previously I reported the problem did not exist on cell data connection. This is not true. I just reproduced the problem on AT&T LTE network. Here the pop-up reads:
Congratulation, Dear AT&T Mobility LLC User,
We are holding a christmas celebration to loyalty users.
Please click "OK" to continue to your reward.
The problem DOES NOT occur on my MacBook Pro on WiFi. I do not have ad blockers of any sort installed on my iPhone or my MacBook Pro. The site is completely unusable on an iPhone and safari. I have not tried any other browser.

Well, at least I know it's not unique to my phone...

These scammers need jail time.
I added Ad-Blocker Pro to my 6S iPhone. I still get the pirated AT&T, WalMart or Amazon messages that I've won something. I can't back out, they pirate the phone. I have to delete and stat over.
Now, I have to log in on 24HCF every time I use the iPhone. Even when I click the box to keep me logged it, it doesn't stay logged in.
I have no 24HCF problems with my desk top Windows computer, just the Apple phone. BTW, I don't mind the Chevy pop ups.
For years, I've used my iPhone with the CF, now it looks like that may be over. Everything else works on the iPhone, except 24HCF.
DF. Dang. Imagine it's similar to Android that you can delete browsing history and delete cookies... Can/have you tried that in the past day or so? It's a critical first step. Guys say that you also have to activate the Adblocker.
Then. Possibly try Dolphin Browser.
Then. Possibly try the $1.99 Adblocker.
There's stuff in our hands to work around the problems. They're working for lots of folks.
I hope you can get it. I just go with what other folk pointed me towards.
If you run into any questions I bet there's guys that'll help. Even if things are fixed on the 'Fire's end, you'll need to do stuff on your end to make it work....
After deleting cookies, I can't log in. Before that I could log in, but would lose logged in status when changing screens. Just the iPhone, no problems with computer.
I got Ad Blocker Pro from the Ap store. It's up and running.
It's set on blocking ads. There are a number of other options that I haven't activated, not knowing what they do.
Somehow deleting Cookies keeps me from signing in to the CF. And before I deleted Cookies, I could sign in but got dropped out when I went to another screen, such as going to My Stuff. That kickekd me out, had to sign in again. Now, I can't sign in at all.
But, haven't seen redirect screens now for a while.
It's awful persistent. Hang in there. I think you are close. Clear cache browsing history and cookies. Install and activate Adblocker. Reboot. Get settings right. What else is there?
Try the Dolphin Browser?
You've helped so many people here, hopefully we'll get it to work...
Only way to prevent redirects is to cancel cookies. Ad Blocker Pro didn't stop them.
No cookies, no log in. Even with Cookies intact, log in only lasted for one cycle. It went away with changing screens.
DF
This is exactly my experience on my Ipad, too, except I get the redirects whether logged in or not. My PC is fine, so far, but, my Ipad is a no-go as far as 24HCF is concerned.
It seems to me the virus, or whatever it is, is transmitted by this website. In other words, no matter how "clean" your machine might be, you can get the virus by the act of accessing 24HCF. For me, it doesn't happen with any other website. So a permanent fix can only come from the website administrators.
Sadly, the redirects are so bad on my Ipad, accessing 24HCF from my Ipad, which is my primary access mode due to traveling a lot, is no longer an option. Which means, unfortunately, I have no choice but to find a different "rifle/hunting/reloading" forum to regularly participate in. Not whining, it is just the reality of my situation.
I know Rick is working on the problem. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Some still experiencing stuff on Android.... From another thread.
Been dinking around with Chrome on my Android phone and see it had cookies from 480 websites and almost 200 MB in the cache. Might clear all that and see if it'll help yours. Looks like there's been improvements on the homefront. Those settings under privacy and site settings would be worth getting correct, and it has a built in adblocker that doesn't block everything.....
I don't know chit but here's the settings on mine and it seems to be working.
Privacy Tab (this is where you go to clear cookies and cache and browsing history) (CLEARED NOW) Nav error settings unchecked Search and URL sug checked help improve safe browsing hell no unchecked safe browsing unchecked (LOL WTF?) use page predictions checked access payment methods checked usage and crash reports off do not track off tap to search on

Ads blocked from some sites Background synch allowed Auto downloads ask first media allowed sound allowed Storage tab shows tons of sites tracking my ass (CLEARED NOW) usb ask first clipboard ask first
A firm focused on cybersecurity for the media industry says it has discovered that hackers are now using a tool designed to hide the fact that it includes malicious code to commit digital ad fraud.
Officials at DEVCON told The Hill on Sunday they uncovered the use of the tool -- known as a polyglot -- on Friday. They said that the use of polyglots, which are considered to be among the more technically advanced tools available for cyber criminals, points to more hackers committing digital ad fraud.
In a polyglot, users can hide malware within the code for an existing file, like an image. In a successful attack using the tool, a web browser will only load the code for what appears to be its intended purpose, allowing the malicious code to remain hidden while it carries out the attack.
For example, the hackers can manipulate the code to make it appear as if it is only an image. But when a web browser uploads the image, it is also including the malware -- a JavaScript code in this case uncovered by DEVCON -- which can then carry out an attack.
Quote
After the image appears, users can then be redirected to a pop-up offering a scam like a $1,000 gift card to Walmart.
“This all happens automatically without user interaction,” Josh Summitt, the chief technology officer at DEVCON, told The Hill. “So the user doesn’t have to click an ad or anything like that for this to happen, it will just redirect them out of the site.”
“Most users, it annoys them,” he added. “Some users actually click on these things and give up their data.”
Summitt and Louie said that once the pop-up appears, other attacks can be carried out, from cryptomining to the installation of a Remote Access Trojan (RAT), which effectively gives the hacker access to the user’s device and opens the door to future cyberattacks.
This isn’t the first time that malicious code has been hidden within images to commit ad fraud: In another exploit, known as steganography, pixels for an image will be replaced with code, causing the picture to look degraded.
But in a polyglot, Summitt said, the code is for both an image and the malware, which can hide the inclusion of the malicious code.
