Indulge me for a moment and allow me to back up just a bit. What I would say is that there have been many authoritarian philosophies afloat for a long, long time and all of them are and have been antithetical to our own, and predate it. Despots ride any vehicle that is convenient to tyranny, and those vehicles morph over time. Bolshevism was just another flavor of authoritarianism that cropped up. It was far from the first.
