Regarding the 270, I've only owned two but my next rifle will be a 270. Can't fathom a better all-around Montana rifle. I can't comment on the 6.5's as I've never owned one of any kind and have no plans to. I know several guys than run them (mostly 6.5-08's and 6.5-06's) for everything with no problems, but I've never seen the reason for one over a 270 which is more widely available and has a successful 75 year track record.

To paraphrase Phil Shoemaker, "those who voice a problem with a properly loaded 270 are unconsciously criticizing their own marksmanship."
