Have update: Mom was a little confused[God love her], he was NOT a convicted felon. He was charged with three felonies[along with multiple misdemeanors]. Out on bail of $50K. Upon his release, the judge basically added a restraint to both he and my stepfather to keep their distance from one another[not sure how that would work]. He[dog killer] is a retired Mechanical engineering professor from Virginia Tech. Tells me all I needed to know.....

Oh...I may be missing something here, how is a retired teacher an obvious problem.
In point of fact I do not recall too many retired teachers feeling the need to confront neighbours with firearms either.
The 'teaching profession' here has become filled with 100% liberal snowflakes, especially at the higher ed level. I deal with these people daily[at VT] 9 out of 10 are educated idiots while all along assuring themselves that they are mentally superior in all facets of life to the poor masses.
Just a point, if I were council for the fellow I would most definitely be saving this thread.
