Remington was beat by the TENITE® stocked Stevens 87T's. As a collector of Savage & Stevens I have a number of these 'click-clack' semi-autos which I find to be a lot of fun - even have a Savage 602 which is the tube fed in 22 SHORT only. Another interesting variation is the 87-M and the RANGER labeled version of it - 8lb+ with a full M1 Garand style stock.

These were not the best design, but good enough that other companies copied it, including SPORTCO in Australia and Saurio in Argentina.
