In the case of Measles and Mumps it was not all that rare, there just wasn't a vaccine for measles until 1963. Chicken pox is less likely to have major complications but is more bothersome. Measles is extremely contagious. More on the order of Smallpox in terms of contagion.


Chicken pox and shingles later in life. Get the shingles vac. Not a guarantee but better odds you won’t get it.
