Gotta laugh, " Never had the money for one when I saw one" we must be related, same story here but last fall I found a really cherry 1894 Marlin made in 1972 in 44 Mag for $500 and I bought it rfn. Irons are fine but I picked up a 1.5 x 4.5x and Weavered it on there for developing loads. Maybe it will stay on there and maybe it won't. Either way it is a slick rig that shoots fine with either sight system and doesn't fling my brass to Hell and gone. Get some meat with it this fall. MB
