I have been shooting control over 30 years in the west and I'm a one trick pony I guess. .243. I have plenty of rifles but I like having that one that just feels right, and use it for many things. My .243 is good for coyotes, speed goats, Wolves, deer, and a few other animals. Like a well broken in glove I like my Tikka in my hand, as I have liked others in past succession.
Fur was never a concern and since they came out I have shot countless coyotes with the 55 grain ballistic tips. From Federal.
Very few I can recall were messed up from that round but perhaps some shoulder or hi spine shot.
Now we're it a caliber for ONLY coyotes, too many to choose from. I would go a bit lighter and focus on light recoil so I could get back on target faster.
Good luck
