Some still do. Wife and I always watch "Live PD" whenever it's on, I notice a 1911 every so often being carried by an officer. One city in California, Stockton maybe, most are using the 1911 along with the Sheriff of Pahrump, NV (Nye County?).

I doubt if the 1911 will ever die.
