I shot my Guide gun today with a load I think I'm gonna like for thickass woods hunting for deer.

355 grain cast at 1355 fps, using AA5744. Kicked less than the .308 Howa LW I was also zeroing with a load using a 155 Scenar.

That's a change, and it still shows evidence of being lethal, at least at one end. Shot it a few times, no bruised shoulder and no headache.

I may move up to 405 grain bullets which would pretty much emulate the original BP loading.

There's something about the .45-70 I just like.
