Your premise is fundamentally flawed. You don’t need to switch, you need both.
Becoming a handloader will largely insulate you from the fluctuations in the market, once you manage to get what’s needed. What’s actually needed is pretty basic, and not terribly expensive over time. You’ll be able to practice more, always a good thing.

Mostly I was just funning about
needing both, as I’ve found I can make do with just about anything, but having options is always a good thing, and a .308 is a very capable, useful, and versatile round. It’s not the ultimate for anything, but does lots of stuff pretty well. I’m seldom without one, and just dropped a fair bit on a second one, which I figure will be largely offset by all the components already in hand, essentially “free” according to loony logic. No flies at all on any 6.5, but only the Grendel has appeared here thus far.
