I got started hunting and shooting late. Much later than most here. Wasn’t something I grew up with so to speak. So my answer will probably seem sacrilegious, but for me it’s my Bennelli SBE 1. Literally the first gun I ever bought, and likely the wisest choice I have ever made. Bought it after an eye-opening experience with a Texan friend who hosted me for duck hunting among other things I’ve killed everything with that gun that walks flys or crawls. I’ve looked like an ‘ass’ with it in the upland woods, and still out-shot my pals with their Parker’s for Woodcock and grouse. And dropped Buck with it too. Everything in between. Far and away the most versatile, utterly reliable, and uniformly deadly gun that I own. On ANYTHING.
