I have a 1939 Winchester 1897 pump 12 gauge that was purchased new to protect the C.S. Holmes [last of the working 4 masted schooners] from Seattle dock strikes.
My uncle, captain and owner of the ship and it's shotguns, gave the 1897 to my father in 1959.
It became my hand me down shotgun for doves, pheasants, and ducks in 1965 when I was 14.
