Based on the passage of Oregon Ballot Initiative 114 and its expectation to take effect on December 08, 2022, Sportsman’s Warehouse currently understands the following impacts to Oregon residents;
December 07, 2022 (Wednesday) will be the last day to purchase a full capacity firearm magazine (magazine with a capacity greater than 10 rounds).
December 07, 2022 (Wednesday) will be the last day to purchase a firearm equipped with a full capacity magazine (firearms equipped and sold with magazines holding more than 10 rounds).
December 07, 2022 (Wednesday) will be the last day to purchase ANY firearm without a valid Oregon Firearm Purchase Permit.
If a firearm customer’s background check is delayed (goes into the “OSP que”) and the approval comes on or after December 08, 2022 (Thursday) – the customer will need a valid Oregon Firearm Purchase Permit to take possession of the firearm.
On and after December 08, 2022 (Thursday) all firearm buyers must have an Oregon Firearm Purchase Permit to purchase ANY firearm.
At this time there are no known OR law enforcement agencies issuing the Oregon Firearm Purchase Permit.
The new Oregon Firearm Purchase Permit may require live fire training.
Sportsman’s Warehouse is dedicated to serving our Oregon customers and is doing everything possible to satisfy their needs.
This includes extending store hours and resupplying stores on a rapid schedule.

When WA passed similar a few years ago a bunch of sheriffs said they’d not enforce, and would block other agencies from enforcing the new regs. Klickitat CO was probably the closest to W WA.

SAF filed suit over the recent mag ban. Not sure it’s been settled yet.

Let’s face it, there are just more of them then there are us, and getting worse each day. Some people will vote with their feet by moving if they can. This will create a bigger bias for the future. Oregon, like so many states today are sliding to progressive demographics.
My home state of Colorado is an example of what can happen. In a couple decades it has slipped into this same problem. The front range controls the state and the population there makes the laws.
At my age I probably, hopefully, won’t see the whole country go this way, but it is very bothersome for me to think my son’s family will have to decide where to live based on politics.

Here is a map of how each county voted on 114. It is easily seen how the urban areas have taken control of the whole state.

Having read most of the posts here on the 114 passage. No one has given the real reason it wasn't defeated. Apathy is the reason. If you look at the percentage of registered voters, that actually voted, you will have the answer. Lazy fuggn Republicans not going to the polls. I can think of no excuse for those non voters. Very little money was spent opposing this bill. I think the backers spent at least 3-4 times as much as the opposition. Most people probably didn't really understand what it will do.

That said, I think it will eventually be struck down as it appears unconstitutional under the Bruen decision by SCOTUS. Unfortunately, that will probably take some time. The 9th Circuit is supposed to issue a new opinion on high capacity magazine bans at the request of SCOTUS after Bruen, but that was in June so they are taking their time.

I have my doubts, but again I ask….What are you going to do about it?

The relevant organization is the Oregon Firearms Federation and yes, I'm a member. But OFF is very grassroots, and doesn't have a lot of money. I think a larger organization like the Second Amendment Foundation will need to take the lead in court cases. The NRA doesn't really do legal challenges, they're primarily a lobbying organization.

NRA backed their New York affiliate, New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, in the recent big win at SCOTUS.

I reckon SAF and GOA will be racing each other to file suit once this horrible law get signed.

It looks like an easy win if the courts follow the directive passed down in NYSRPA by SCOTUS.

I read your position statement on measure 114. I am seriously glad you support the 2nd! That's what we need from our sheriff. My gun is my last line of defense against tyranny, my neighbors and immediate community next, my sheriff next after that. So you're not my only defense, but you're the last one that doesn't involve blood, killing, and societal chaos. 

That's how important your position on this measure is! Without you standing between tyranny and citizens, there would be bloodshed and war! 
However, I need to point out that while all of the above is true and I am gawdawful thankful for you and your official statement, it still leaves us with a problem. 

While the left and liberals keep throwing [bleep] at the wall until something sticks with gun control laws, w/o any consequences whatsoever by the way, we have to vigorously defend ourselves against their tyrannical and unConstitutional measures, one after the other, even though they are clearly ILLEGAL.

What needs to happen is, rather than bowing down to these measures which are as you stated clearly an infringement of our 2nd amendment rights by falling in line with the classes and training portion of this measure, our sheriff needs to say loudly and clearly, "No, this will not be in effect in my county, in part or in entirety. My legally operating gunshops will continue to do business and my citizens will continue to exercise their Constitutionally guaranteed rights, uninterrupted. Any attempt to interfere with either of the above will be met with the full force and effect of my department. The citizens of this county WILL NOT be subject to the illegal and unConstitutional measures which clearly have no basis in law". 

By agreeing to hurry up and come up with a program to facilitate this tyrannical measure, you become part of the problem. If I read your position correctly, your heart isn't inclined that way. But by following through with these edicts handed down from Portland, you do position yourself in alliance with tyranny. 

Sadly for all of us, this unConstitutional measure is being shoved down our throat. We as citizens have no choice but bloodshed against tyranny if our sheriff doesn't stand for us and against criminality.
Nobody but perhaps the most radical left, the ones that would love to declare martial law and invoke emergency powers, want war. We in Josephine county just want to live our lives and be left alone.
Sheriff, we just re-elected you, and we need your help now. Make a stand that we aren't in a position to make. You have power we lack. Use it. Set an example for all the nation to see. Make us proud, make us free citizens again. Well Raeford, I'm from exactly where you are from and I live here in Oregon. The make up of both states are different.
One party controls the state completely. The Entire State of Oregon is similar to living up in NoVA/ Metro DC... Fairfax, Loudon, Arlington, Prince William Counties. All controlled by lying cheating democRats. But they do it all out of 5 countries, and dictate to the other 30-31 counties of what we all are going to do, to fit their conveniences.

I don't ever believe ANY election results here. It living in an occupied territory. You just ignore it all. Anything we have in our homes, they don't have a way of knowing when or where it was obtained and how. Minus a gun, I can buy things elsewhere ( accessories etc), in my travels.

I hope Oregon is finally pissed off enough to get up from their recliners and finally make a stand.

While this legislation has passed and is currently tying up firearm purchases with ultra long waiting periods for background checks for those without a CHL - some still won’t make the deadline of Dec. 8th.

To get their firearm after the 12/8 they will have to wait for the State legislature to figure out how fund this massive cluster-fûck of training and permitting through LEO/and outside trainers, then take all their required courses before they can claim their gun. (no solid curriculum has been determined yet) Nobody knows when a gun can be legally purchased after Dec. 8th.

When 114 was looking like it would pass, I sent Remsen the full txt of ballot measure 114 and asked him to review it for unconstitutionality. That took Brother Remsen about 10 minutes to reply back to me that the entire measure was so poorly written that it’s unconstitutional in its entirety. Oregon’s Liberal politicians maybe brazen, but they’re still a bunch of idiots when it comes to writing air-tight legislation.

Remsen, said that while it most likely will get overturned, eventually. It likely will be a long, hard, fight to win. He said that while Oregon Legislators are fûck’n retards, the Liberal judges in the lower courts aren’t. Remsen said we should be prepared to see some legal workarounds on 114 to nuance it into a legal tool to keep firearms out of peoples hands.

What’s this mean? And what can we do? Well, your money helps, and so does some of your time…This fight is extremely important on a national stage, not just Oregon.

I would imagine GOA may take the lead on this and challenge it hard, first in the lower courts, and then on to SCOTUS if GOA doesn’t get quick victory.
