1) Mostly for coons, I put cat food in a have-a-heart trap. When the trap goes off, I shoot it in the top of the head with a CCI CB short from a rifle with a 24" barrel. Sounds like a BB gun. The wife, quietly working a jigsaw puzzle, will not hear a thing. 2) Sometimes when a coon in the top of a tree, I shoot it with body shots until it falls.
