I'm sure you know stock 'fit' has A LOT to do with felt recoil.

A little framing first. The largest (biggest) rifle caliber I've shot is 375 H H in a Rem 700 BDL. Not too bad. I could hunt one if I needed it.

I have had an 8mm RM several yrs. I've hunted and killed deer with it. It's a little sharper than the H H but does NOT punish ME.

However the Rifle & Cartridge that is FAR & AWAY the WORST I've ever shot was.....

Ruger 77 tanger, red pad --------- 338 WM. I'll never have another one of those. Literally it hurt every time I shot it. Enuff - Enuff
