Powerbelt .348's for me. Have only shot a couple of deer and no elk. Excellent accuracy with 2 pyrodex pellets. Can't imagine any problem with this weight bullet or heavier. I had one go through a hip bone, and exit out the opposite rib cage leaving a rib broken poking out from a 90 yard shot. I believe that would work on an elk.
The other guys I hunt with like 250gr cheap shots and do just fine on deer.
240 Cheapshots will exit many times.
In the Sabot World, best bang for 50 cents or less are the XTPs, Cheapshots and Harvester Scorpions. Nosler, Sierra and Speer HPs need a little mention here too. Harvester PT Golds are now running a little over 50 cents and one heck of a bullet.
