About 8 years ago, I took a trip to a covered outdoor range with a buddy. He was getting into reloading and wanted me to go with him to try some loads.
The guy next to us(yes, the range was full due to rain)was running a 700 300 RUM with a muzzle brake. I've got nothing against brakes, but listening to them under cover is not my favorite place to be.
We had a cease fire for changing targets. Most everyone took off their ears, then you guessed it, BOOM! The guy next to us "accidently" lit one off while fingering his rifle during the cease fire. Yes, there were about 8 people down range! He was quickly escorted away and told to never come back. My left ear is still ringing and I've never gone back to a public rifle range.
Man that sucks.
