It really sucks that the elderly are so isolated. They are losing their minds. We keep our families needs first. Regardless of rules/regulations.
This is one of the great inestimable costs, among many others that families and the elderly pay for isolation.
My mother died at 94 a couple of weeks ago with a year of barely seeing her and minimal communication. Though she was in a very good nursing home with excellent care, no family was allowed in her room until just before she passed.
