I’d be interested in the thoughts of Australians regarding this or a rebuttal to the article based on the truth if in fact the article isn’t true. It seems that instead of a refutation they get collectively indignant and start throwing insults around. Another thing I’ve noticed lately is that instead of confirming or denying the article or commentary they try to draw some theoretical equivalence between their situation and ours. I’ll be the first to admit that what we’re witnessing in this country currently is abhorrent to our Constitution and anathema to freedom BUT we are working within the system of checks and balances that our Founding Fathers created. That system as imperfect as it is gives us a chance to try to remedy it before taking up arms and revolting. Our Founders recognized that it was a forgone conclusion that from time to time through the centuries the “tree of Liberty would need to be refreshed with the blood of Patriots and tyrants” which is why our 2 amendment is vitally important. The 2A protects the 1A and should cause our government to fear us rather than us fear our government. Because of the importance and gravity of the 2A we don’t take it or our responsibility under it lightly nor do we use it as justification for ignoring the checks and balances and going straight to arms. It likely will take a significant action to change the course of our country because of the evil but powerful forces that are controlling it as well as most major 1st world countries, Australia included. When and if that were to happen it’ll be because we’ve exhausted our options under the system and because the system is corrupt and it no longer serves the people, doesn’t have consent of the people and has been destructive to our principles…..
Australians like to draw comparisons to America and that’s awful sweet but the reality is that we still have our freedoms despite them being constantly under attack and we still have the fight in FRONT of us. Australians gave up….any fight they had is well behind them and in their rear view mirror, they lost before they started and whatever their masters allow them to have, whatever bones they’ve thrown to the subjects is simply temporarily placate them. It seems to work for them…being allowed only the privileges they trust themselves with gives on the false impression of being footloose and fancy free…
