I am thankful there are those doing that job, but it would take three times normal earnings and a lot of time off for me to go into that line of work. Has to be especially hard in small communities where all are known entities seeing one another on almost a daily basis.
It is why Alaska villages are largely lawless. Everyone is related to everyone, or if not, they are feuding. sometimes both. No one in the village wants the job, and an outsider is automatically the bad guy to pretty much everyone.
Yet they whine about a lack of law enforcement.
