Maybe I should ask this in the gunsmithing forum ,but is it possible to have a Savage 340 in 30-30 rebored and rechambered into a 35 Remington? Would there be any issues with feeding or extraction? Just thinking out loud here, might make for an interesting project.
Well, first thing you'd have to contend with is the boltface. The 340 has a bolrface sized for the rimmed .30-30 case boltface will be about .512". The 35 Rem has a smaller .460" rim.
I'd build on on a short action Savage 10 action. Did one in 6.5 grendel that way by opening up a .223 bolt head. Started with a Stevens 200 rifle. There is a good chance you could use an '06 boltface and simply swap out and fit the 223 extractor for more bite on the rim.
