James Richardson, who was Canada's Minister of Defence at one time, used to say the key to understanding Pierre Trudeau was to know that he hated English Speaking Canadians.
He hardly ever visited English Canada. He married Margarette to get the western vote. He spent much more time with "bachelors" like Michael Pitfield and with Marc Lalonde than he ever did with Margaret which is why she in turn hung out at drug dens in NYC and with the Rolling Stones. She was straight.
Trudeau knew that when he dumped Jamaica's street criminals into Canada they would go to Toronto because they spoke English. Trudeau lived in Montreal. No worries for him.
The way to get even is to take all of Haiti's worst street criminals and let them too come to Canada using the disaster as the reason. They speak French. They will all end up in Montreal, double the crime rate there, and keep the likes of Paul Martin looking over his shoulder like residents of Toronto have to do today.
