Hated my 270WSM but that probably had more to do with the Tikka T3 than the cartridge itself.
Despite what savage62 says my 24" 270 Winchester pushes nearly every 130gr bullet to 3200fps+ with Magpro reaching 3250+. Heck, it shoots cheap Federal blue box 130's to 3240 as verified by 3 different chronographs. My 270WSM T3 struggled mightily to beat it and only a very few loads could reach 3300fps with a 130.
I'll never own another WSM given my experience with the 7WSM and the 270WSM.
Seeing that your Tikka had a Sako barrel it probably had a long throat. I've measured the throats on several Kimbers, HS Precisions, Winchesters and a couple Sako WSM's. All the Sako WSM's had long throats and would shoot the exact same loads used in other rifles slower........................................DJ
