Thanks. I only asked about steel saddle since there was a comment on the thread about Phil Shoemaker's rifle about his "steel" Weaver rings. I thought it was referring to the top strap but wasn't sure.

"An archer sees how far he can be from a target and still hit it, a bowhunter sees how close he can get before he shoots." It is certainly easy to use that same line of thinking with firearms. -- Unknown
