It’s hard to go with just one caliber for me because I like guns and want to try them all! I’ve shot deer and hogs with:
.223 Rem- deer and hogs
.220 Swift- lots of deer and hogs
.25-06 Rem- deer and hogs
.270 WSM- hogs
7 Mag- lots of deer and hogs
.338 Lapua one deer
45/70 one deer

If I had to pick one caliber from what i’ve used so far, it would be the 7mag. It’s a Remington 700 Rocky Mountain Elk edition that I won in a drawing. For some reason and I cannot explain why, the recoil if extremely tolerable. My brother’s 7 Mag in Model 70 kicks the chit outa me. I’m getting away from the .22 centerfires because to me, they are all short range guns, meaning that the farther the bullet gets out there the less azz it has to get the job done. Today I’m leaving to go hunting and I’ll be carrying my 270 Winchester and 30-30.
