Folks were struggling to make ends meet in those days too.
The families had more money if they went on welfare and separated.
Not too hard to imagine....people today wont go back to work because they are making too much on benefits.
Can you imagine clearing all that bottom land in the Delta and then have it taken away from you once they found out it was good land?

But.
In recent history there’s been no group of people that have ever been given more and that have had more set aside specifically for them than has black people. None.
The sad part is that you never hear much if anything at all about the black man or woman who goes quietly about their day to day business, much the same as the majority of other races
The problem is that black culture is at war with itself, not with whitey. As long as any group focuses inward and on the past, they will never move forward.
