I apologize if I'm wrong,but something about that pic looks Photoshoped............hope i'm wrong.
I think it has to do with the close proximity of the camera to the elk and lens size. No one hunting really wants to lug a dedicated camera with a much wider lens around and most pics are probably taken just fitting the animal or its rack in the picture frame. If the pic had been taken from further back, the effect would probably be lessened.
