I did 41 years there. Met a Mainer - got married. Now happily a Vermonter of 9 years. Not too many Californians look to New England but the mountain states are swimming in more recent new residents it seems. I rarely meet any other Californians here or NH or ME as we travel.

We cut all ties to CA & after having seen & done all the state has to offer & don’t to plans to return or even visit. We were a NorCal farming family. We’ve all left the state now.

We’re not all bad, most just don’t see a future there as things started to go downhill population & tax wise 10+ years ago.

I will say that my agriculture background and general hard working positive attitude helped me adjust to rural VT life easier than if I were from a city. I guess small town values carry well almost everywhere.
