I did, a bit over 40 years ago.

I turned the barrel from a “shot out” Hart .22-250 bench rest barrel, a gift from a range buddy, using my Sears Craftsman lathe. The reason for the project was that this particular S&W 63 left the factory with its cylinder face seriously out of square (rubbed the back of the barrel on one chamber, grossly excessive gap three chambers away). Squared the cylinder face on my lathe. Then, rather than setting the original barrel back accordingly, I just made the new barrel. It shot so well, I drilled and tapped it to accept Weaver scope bases. And, voila: super deluxe rodent eradicator extraordinaire.

Performance with a scope at 50 yards is pretty much the same, except that it allows for engaging smaller targets:
