Nearly all alterations have been DIY. But, my old lathe got sold when I went to Afghanistan. I felt lost without it upon my return. Fortunately, I found a genuine machinist/gunsmith who doesn’t mind me (respectfully) telling him what to do, once I established my bonafides. We get along great because he finds my nutty projects an entertaining change of pace.

But, Wifey recently bought me a new lathe, just like my old one, except no milling attachment - yet. Once I get that, I’ll be back to full strength.

But, I’m certainly no machinist. I tend to use my lathe like it was an oversized hand tool. So, I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the precision results I’ve been able to achieve. Sure is fun.

Though my alterations to hard-to-find guns drive collector/resale types absolutely insane, my guns are exactly what I want them to be.

Every day’s an adventure.
